Our dear mother, Juanita Jowell Tomsic, passed away surrounded by her family on December 7, 2025. She fought a good fight for many years but eventually succumbed to Breast Cancer & Interstitial Lung Disease.
Juanta was the 3rd of 5 daughters born to Jason & Geneva Jowell. Ater attending all Price schools, she graduated from Carbon High School in 1951.
She married Emil J. Tomsic on June 23, 1951 in Price Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the SLC Temple in 1973. They made their home in Salt Lake Valley, in the Canyon Rim area.
She graduated from the University of Utah and taught school in the Granite School District for over 10 years. She also was the office manager for the family excavating and topsoil business, aka Tomsic & Son’s Inc.
They were the proud parents of four children, Brian, Kimiel, Brad & Brent (deceased).
Mom taught us four children the importance of hard work. She led by example.
Mom was an excellent cook, homemaker, canner and candy maker. Mom loved to cook for her family, friends and relatives for the holidays and special occasions. Mom always felt being together for dinner was an important family time, even after a strenuously long day. She always put her family first.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints mom held many positions throughout her life, including a service mission in the Genealogy Library, that she loved.
She is proceeded in death by her mom & dad, husband, son (Brent), sisters: Arlene Bonello (Mario) and Merlene Poloni (Harold), Jaselene (Lamond Williams).
She is survived by her children: Brian (Shelley), Kim and Brad. One grandson, Jordan Tomsic (Stephanie), 2 step great grandchildren, Hunter and Brooklyn Rowley and a great granddaughter, Aspyn Tomsic. She also is survived by her youngest sister, Pat Lewis. She has several cousins, Elaine, Marcella & Reid that remained close cousins throughout the years here in Salt Lake City. She also has many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Canyons Hospice for their excellent care they provided for our mother for the last three years. Thank you for the love, patience and respect you all gave her.
