

Judith (Judy) McAllister Woodruff passed away peacefully March 21, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born October 28, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Judith Rordame McAllister and Arch F. McAllister. Judy grew up in the Salt Lake area graduating from East High School and then attended the University of Utah and pledged Alpha Chi Omega. Judy met the love of her life, John Woodruff on a blind date at the popular Salt Air resort. They soon married. Shortly thereafter John was called into military service during WWII. When he returned 3 years later, they started a “baby boomer” family. Judy has 3 daughters 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grand children.
She was an active member of the LDS church where she made many life-long friends through her service in the primary and Relief Society. Judy was an avid golfer. She even got a hole in one during a golf tournament in St. George and won an RV. She was a very talented lady. She was a skilled seamstress, making dresses and other items for all of her grandchildren every Christmas. She was a very accomplished toll painter, painting many beautiful pieces that decorated her home and family cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon. She loved the beauties of nature and took great pleasure working in her gardens. Judy is well loved by her family and the many friends she made over the years. Her greatest treasures were her family and friends. The family would like to thank special caregivers over the past 18 months, Gracie, Maggie, Tomi, Coventry Assisted Living, Cottonwood Place, and Hearts for Hospice. Preceded in death by her parents and her sweetheart, Johnny, her great-grandson, Matthew Steven Lewis. Survived by her children Patricia W. (Alan) Palfreyman, Rennae W. (Budd) Ferre, and Jackie Woodruff, 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Friends and family may gather Thursday evening March 24th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 south Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the Kenwood Second Ward chapel at 11:00 AM Friday March 25th 1765 East 3080 South, Salt Lake City. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
