

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Kaaren Rae Haycock Covili passed away suddenly January 22, 2015. Kaaren was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 25, 1940 to the late George and Kathryn Haycock. Kaaren attended Granite High School and Brigham Young University. On February 24, 1968 she married Al Covili in Salt Lake City where they lived until their retirement in 2001 to New Harmony in Southern Utah. She enjoyed her lifelong career with Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation. For almost 45 years, you would find Kaaren on the softball fields and basketball courts working with the players, officials and scorekeepers whom she loved dearly. In 2012, Kaaren was the first scorekeeper inducted into the Utah Softball Hall of Fame. A dedicated mother and grandmother, "Nana” felt her greatest joy while celebrating the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Kaaren was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved serving in the church and was an active member of the Kolob Canyon Ward. Kaaren is survived by husband Al and children: Alicia Richmond (Evan), Jason Covili (Kristin), and Jared Covili (Tara). She is survived by her eight grandchildren (Coleton, Chloe, Liam, Kennedy, Alex, Quinn, Dylan, and Ellis). She is also survived by her sisters: Judie Smith and Jorgelyn Lyons. Funeral services will be held at the Cottonwood 4th Ward (5565 Neighbor Lane) on Monday, February 2 at 11 AM. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 9 AM.
