

Kory Steven O’Brien passed away suddenly on October 5, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada due to an abdominal aneurysm. Kory was born on September 30, 1962, to Ralph Steve O’Brien and Marian Harward O’Brien Handy in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kory grew up in Salt Lake and Park City. He was a very talented quarterback for the Park City Miners and graduated from Park City High. After high school, Kory worked for his Dad in the family painting business where he became an expert painter. He had an excellent work ethic and later became employed by the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas where he worked for twenty-five years.
On May 22, 1993, he married Debbie Lee Wilson. Kory, Debbie, and her two children Crystal and Ryan became a happy family. He later adopted both children and always referred to them as his own. Kory’s greatest joy in life was his family. He had two grandchildren, Peyton and Liam who were his pride and joy. He loved being a Grandpa. Kory was also a great influence and friend to his Nieces and Nephews. Kory loved all sports but especially the Raiders football team. He was very excited when they were moved to Las Vegas. Kory loved to read and learn. When he first moved to Las Vegas he read everything he could about palm trees and became an expert.
Kory is survived by his wife Debbie O’Brien, Daughter Crystal Curfew, Son Ryan O’Brien, grandchildren Peyton and Liam, five sisters, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Kory is preceded in death by his Mother Marian Handy and Father Ralph O'Brien.
A viewing will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 1:00-1:45 P.M. with a funeral following at 2:00 P.M. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City).
