1972 ~ 2010
Lance R. Leavitt, loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father and friend passed away on November 25, 2010 while tracking a buck in the mountains he loved in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born on June 2, 1972 in Salt Lake City to Ronald L. and Patsy Bringhurst Leavitt. He graduated from the University of Utah with his bachelor degree in Economics. He married the love of his life, Casey Pedler on November 15, 2000. They were proud to celebrate their 10th anniversary last month. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He was an outdoorsman in the truest sense of the word. A talented hunter from a young age, he hunted throughout the United States and multiple continents, even working as a professional hunting guide in Africa—an experience he treasured. He frequently hunted alone or with his friends and family, but his favorite hunting partner was his dad. He had already passed his love and knowledge of animals and the outdoors to his young son. They could talk for hours on end about water fowl, trophy mule deer and ballistics.
He adored his parents and missed his father tremendously after his passing in 2000. He doted on the women in his life. He shared a special bond with his mother and always made sure she was well cared for. He was the only brother to his three older sisters. Even though he was the youngest sibling, he was constantly ensuring his sisters were healthy and happy. He never uttered one critical word to his wife and made her feel safe, made her laugh until she cried, but most of all he made her feel loved. His love for his darling daughters had no limit. He planned to be cleaning his guns every time they were picked up for a date when he finally allowed them to date when they turned 30.
As skilled as Lance was as a hunter, he was an equally talented father. His children were blessed by his patience, time, attention and unconditional love. His powerful, positive influence is evident in their sweet personalities. They are left with no doubt of his love for them.
Lance is survived by his wife; son, Hunter Ronald; daughters Hannah Laine and Hennessey Anne; mother; sisters Leslie (Scott) Earl, Laurie (Doug) Lesher, Lisa (Dave) Robbins and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
