LaPrele Heninger Hall passed away on October 2, 2023. She was born July 7, 1935 in Mendon, Utah, a daughter of Matthew Elmer Heninger and Zelda Bird Heninger. She was one of eight children, and was preceded in death by sisters Virginia, Helen, Adele, and Naomi; and brothers Grant, Howard, and Harold.
When she was a young girl, the family moved to Logan where she attended and graduated from Logan High School and Utah State University. She worked for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Logan, and later in Salt Lake City as a secretary to Elder Thorpe B. Isaacson and as an Administrative Secretary for the Primary Children’s Hospital where she also led fundraising efforts.
In 1965, she was married to Gilbert Einar Hall in the Logan Temple. They resided in the Millcreek neighborhood of Salt Lake City and were the parents of son Steven Einar Hall and daughter Karen Hall. She was a busy, supportive, and fun mother, who had a gift for instinctively and gently guiding and interacting with children: her own children, cub scouts, primary children, neighbors, relatives, and grandchildren.
LaPrele was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the wards and stakes where she lived, including as Relief Society President and Primary President in the Valley View First Ward. She served as the Stake Primary President in the Valley View Stake twice. With her husband, she served five missions for the church, including to Kirtland, Ohio; Nauvoo, Illinois; and the Stockholm Sweden temple. She was later an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and helped to edit the DUP’s 1998 publication “Pioneer Women of Faith and Fortitude.” She spent much time writing family histories and doing genealogical research.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Einar, who she greatly missed since his passing in 2018. She is survived by son Steven, his wife Julie Taylor, daughter Karen, and grandchildren Amanda Lydia, Jenna Lee, Spencer Taylor, Mihayla Mae, and Chay Einar.
LaPrele was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt to dozens. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.
