

Lewis L. Stone, 93, died in Salt Lake City May 30, 2020. He was a physicist, retired from the Navy Mine Defense Laboratory, Panama City, Florida. He was born November 5, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Lewis L. Stone (Sr.) and Etha Rast Stone. He attended public schools in Waco, Texas and graduated from Waco High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy, Fleet Airwing Three, in World War II. He graduated from Baylor University, Florida State University, and the Naval War College. He served as Commander, St. Andrew Bay Sail and Power Squadron. He served on the vestries of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Panama City, and St. Mark’s Cathedral, Salt Lake City. He served on the board of the Episcopal Management Corporation, Diocese of Utah.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother George Stone, and his first wife, Martha Neal Dickie Stone. He is survived by his wife Betty Childs Stone, by daughters Carol Kroesche (Guy), Marjorie Hagen,(Fred Ramey) and Nancy Terry (Mark); by grandchildren Michael Kroesche, Chase Kroesche, Katherine Moorhead, Jennifer Nygren, and Richard Terry; by nephews George Stone Jr. and Randolph Stone; by cousins Ann Cruikshank and George Cruikshank; and by great grandchildren Clover Stone Moorhead, Lily Bredall Moorhead and Barrrett Archer Nygren.
His funeral and burial will be at St. Mark’s Cathedral, Salt Lake City, at a date to be determined.
