Raymond and Lois Kunkel joyfully welcomed Linda into the world on March 16, 1953 in Newark, New Jersey. In her early years, her family moved back to their roots in Salt Lake City. She was raised in a loving home with her siblings Todd Kunkel and Tori Glawe. She was preceded in death by her brothers Wade and Roger.
Linda graduated Magna Cum Laude from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977. She went on to graduate with honors in 1980 with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from University of Oklahoma, John W. Keys College of Speech and Hearing. Linda was awarded her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
Linda was passionate about her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Early in her career, she served children in Oklahoma City Public Schools. Linda relocated home to Salt Lake City in 1982 and worked in Jordan School District until retiring in 2006. Linda also ran a private Speech-Language Pathology practice from 1992 until her death. Linda later served residents in long term care from 2010 until her death.
She was known for bringing her cuddly, affectionate service dogs to visit residents and staff; to bring joy and comfort. Linda always carried around games for use in therapy, a deck of cards in her purse, some dominoes in her back seat.
Linda treated her patients with kindness and humanity and will be missed by those she helped. Linda was devoted over her 46 year career to improving people's lives by improving their language and communication skills, cognition, swallowing, speech production and social skills; among other things. Colleagues of hers have commented she often said she would work until she died, because she loved her profession and was devoted to helping improve lives through her expertise. She couldn't fathom not continuing her career, or what she would do with her time.
Traveling brought great joy to Linda, she loved visiting other countries, beaches, new places she had never visited before. Linda had a joy for visiting Lake Powell, which was a family tradition that she carried on with her children. Linda loved attending theater and arts performances. She loved spending time with her family above all else, immediate and extended. She loved family dinners, family reunions, and family activities. Linda was also a loving and loyal friend, and cherished her dear friends.
She is survived by her children: Zachary White, Lindsey (Austin) White, Kelsey White, Audrey Thomas, and Christopher (Allison) White; along with her grandchildren Daxton, Emerson and Lincoln.
Linda will be deeply missed; and is gone, but not forgotten.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11777 South Willow Wood Dr, Draper, Utah 84020, US, on March 28, 2026, at 11:00 am.
