Mareen was born November 22, 1922 to Lottie Langham and John Willie Dunn in Sunnyside, Carbon County, Utah. When she was 4 years old, her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she resided the rest of her life. She attended West High School where she was Junior Class Secretary and Senior Class Vice President. She worked in the Salt Lake office of the FBI for 10 years. She married to G. Willis Carlisle in the Salt Lake Temple on May 23, 1945. Mareen raised her family and then worked for EDO Corporation until she retired. She was an active member of the Valley View 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mareen was a happy person, had a good sense of humor and an instant smile. She loved life and loved her family and many friends. She enjoyed traveling with her family and dear friends. Having season tickets to all the cultural events kept her well entertained, along with playing bridge. She loved music and had the talent of playing the piano by ear or by note.
Mareen’s greatest joy and accomplishments were giving birth to her two daughters, JoLynne and Cindy. In 1979, a tragic accident took the life of JoLynne. During this period, Mareen exhibited her strength to her loved ones, especially the three daughters JoLynne left behind. Mareen dedicated her life to her family and imparted a legacy of love, faith, compassion, courage and generosity to each one.
Mareen is survived by daughter, Cindy (Max) Zeller, and five grandchildren: Jacob (Bonda) Zeller and Kari Lynne Zeller, Liberty Jo Schuller, Jessica Lynne (Douglas) Gish, and Amanda Marnee (Isaac) Moe, and 17 precious great grandchildren. Also survived by son-in-law Edgar A. Alder (Deana) and their three children Emily (Chad) Jensen, Andrew Alder and Preston (Stevie) Alder.
