Mary Florence Daw died April 9th, 2022 of injuries sustained in a fall. She was 84 years old. She was born June 22nd 1937 to William J. Gerome and Florence Wilson Gerome in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended South High School. She married Robert E. Daw on October 31, 1954 (yes there is a funny story surrounding that date!) and on June 8th, 1961 they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom loved reading, being with her family, crocheting, baking bread and cinnamon rolls with her grandchildren. She worked for many years as a pharmacy tech at Fred Meyers, a job she loved. Mom and Dad raised their family in the Canyon Rim area and made many wonderful friends during that time. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Her favorite was working with the cub scouts. She was a master at running pinewood derbys. She was also a top notch visiting teacher, who with her long time partner, LaPrele Sumsion received recognition for twenty years of visiting teaching and never missing a single month. Mom loved teaching anyone and everyone how to crochet and make afghans, hot pads, decorations and anything else that they may want to try. With Dad, she served two service missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They loved serving people and helping them return to the covenant path and go to the temple. Family was everything to Mom and she will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as will her Christmas pizzalles that she made every year.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, her children, Gregg (Sharlene), Korby (Dave) Hanks, Bruce (Sydney) and Stephen (Sue). Twenty grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Her sister Billie Nixon and sister-in-law Joyce Jackson. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Susan, grandson Clayton, sister Barbara Cowley and brother Tom Gerome.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 13th at 11:00 a.m. At Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment at Wasatch Lawn.
