Michelle Y. Slusher peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on September 16, 2016, after a six-year long battle with cancer. Born June 29, 1962 to Martin and Linda Yack, in Bountiful, Utah. The family moved to St. George, Utah for her teen years, where she graduated from Dixie High School in 1980. Michelle went on to attend and graduate from Utah State University in 1985 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Like most college students she worked part time jobs during the summer breaks. On one such break during her sophomore year, Michelle found a job in Salt Lake where she met her husband Ronald (Ron) Slusher. They dated for her remaining years in college and decided to date one more year after that before getting married, because, in her words, the most time I have spent with you at any given time is two days. I need to know that we can be compatible every day before I can commit to the rest of my life. They married in 1986 and raised three wonderful children, Garrett, Sydney, and Shelby.
In 1988 Michelle started working for O.C. Tanner where she stayed until 2011, when she was forced to resign due to complications from her cancer.
Michelle loved being around friends and family, playing golf, and being outside, as long as it wasn't too cold.
Michelle is survived by her husband Ron, her son Garrett, daughters Sydney and Shelby, her parents Martin and Linda Yack, brother Rodney, his wife Natalee, their children Brandon, Ahrika, and Justin, and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
Michelle is preceded in death by her grandparents Frank and Thora Yack and Farrell and Nelda West, her In-laws Jack and Audrey Slusher.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive.
The Family would like to thank everyone at Utah Cancer Specialists, the staff at Intermountain Home Health Care, and Steve, Juls, and Alexis from Quality Hospice for the care and support during Michelle's illness. With a special thanks to Dr. William Nibley, Dr. Tawnya Bowles, and Dr. Jane MacPherson. We could not have found a better team of doctors than these three.
Michelle requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to any of the foundations that are searching for a cure for cancer.
