The second daughter of Jack E. and Peggy Crawford Perkins, Pam grew up in the Millcreek area of Salt Lake and graduated from Olympus High School. She trained as a cosmetologist but preferred work in office administration. Pam joined the Department of Workforce Services in 1985 and retired after 25 years of service.
In 1967, Pam married Robert "Bob" Taylor, later divorced. In 1969, she and Bob had a son; Corby Troy Taylor. Corby was her only child and the light of her life. His death in 1986 created a permanent void in the years that followed. In 1991, Pam Married Jeff Covert. Jeff died in 1998.
As a child, Pam was very pretty and somewhat shy. As a woman, she was stunningly beautiful and rarely shy. She was blessed with raven hair, lavender/green eyes and a model's figure. She was happiest sharing fun times with her family and found contentment tending to her garden, shopping, crocheting and reading a good mystery. She was a natural athlete and loved sports, especially golf, ice skating, swimming and riding horses. Pam also had a beautiful singing voice and when she thought she was alone, she could astound the accidental listener.
Pam loved all animals but she had a special affinity for our four-legged friends. Over the years, Pam rescued and sheltered several dogs and cats, giving them the love and care they deserved. Late in life, well past the age where most people would have chosen a more relaxed path, Pam found Casey, her very sweet, 100 pound German Shepherd. Every morning, Pam, Casey and her little Shih Tsu, walked the neighborhood, always amusing both friends and strangers.
Pam was truly a one-of-a-kind. Sometimes, unpredictable and sassy, but always generous, vulnerable and sincere. She loved deeply and was fiercely loyal to those closest to her. May her memory be a cherished gift to those she loved.
Pam's family would like to thank the staff at Crescent Senior Living and Memory Care for their dedication and support.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, as well as her sister Linda Perkins and brother David Perkins. She is survived by her sister Margaret Crawford, brother Louis Perkins and four nephews: David Roberts (Julie), Daniel Roberts (Mindy), Stuart Perkins and Colin Perkins. She is also survived by two grandnieces and four grandnephews.
Pam will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in a private graveside service.
