10/29/1943 – 04/24/2011
Patty—Mom, grandma, sister, and friend to many—returned home to the Lord Sunday, April 24th after a long battle with many illnesses. Mom was always thinking of others first, and even in her last week here she wanted to make sure we kids were happy. Mom had an amazing journey with her airline career, working 47 years as a flight attendant for Western and then Delta Airlines. "Chatty Patty", as she was often called, had a passion for people—especially young children. She loved nothing more than doing things for others and flying over to Honolulu every week for work.
Mom would never let you know she was down or sick, and as long as she had her spooky shows and projects to do, she was happy. Mom—you were taken from us so early, and we anticipate the day when we will all be together again. Now fly away home, this time as a passenger. You can rest now, and all your loved ones will meet you at the arrival gate.
Survived by daughters Nichole (Blair) Bingham and Jenna Elegante (Beth), son Tory (Brooke) Elegante, brother William Mecham, ex-husband Charles Elegante, Jr., and grandchildren Deanza, Cassandra, Ariel, Belle, Orlando, and Ella.
A memorial service will be held for Patty on Thursday, April 28th at 10:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive. Friends may call one hour prior.
Mom's final request was to be cremated and spread over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Honolulu; close family members will carry this out in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Primary Children's Hospital. An online memorial is available at www.wasatchlawn.com.
