Dear Aunt Kay,
My Uncle Reed holds a part of my heart. He was the soft spoken 'big man'...

My favorite memory, is when he called Gramma Pearl and when I asked who was calling he said "the big bad wolf"...scared me...but Gramma knew who it was! The name stuck. Every time we saw or spoke he was always...the big bad wolf.

He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and four family.

To the Schultz Family:  We wish to express our deepest condolences to your family.  We worked with Mr Schultz when he was on the Board of Mt Olympus and we enjoyed seeing his smiling face.  Know that he is your special angel watching over you.

I am Richard Thompsen, Reed and Russell were my cousins, Aunt Pearl and uncle Marlin were favorites of mine. I have hunted deer above Spring City with Uncle Marlin and enjoyed every minute with him.  When I got back to Salt Lake from the POW camp about  20 June 1945 I tried to call my folks in Bingham but got Pearl who told me that they had gone back to Spring City. She then insisted she and Marlin would come and pick me up the next day and bring a picnic lunch which they did and took me to Lagoon and had a picnic lunch, then Marlin gave me a hunting knife that he had made, that cemented a life time of respect and friendship for him. I was so overwhelmed by their love and friendship that I can't remember where Reed and Russell were.  
The next time I saw Reed was at some occasion in Salt Lake, I believe it was like a care center that was honoring  aunt Pearl on her Birthday. There I met Reed for the first time in many years, finding that he was a retired army Lt. Col. We seemed to hit it off and enjoyed a nice visit, It appeared to me that Reed and his family were looking after aunt Pearl.  I feel that I must commiserate for Reeds Family over their loss of a husband, father and a friend.   Richard.

I Knew Reed and Kay through my mom and dad,  Dick and Donna Merrill.  I always found Reed to be easy going and positive.  I admired him for that.  Michael T. Merrill.

Dear Kay:  We are saddened by the loss of Reed.  He was a wonderful neighbor who offered good advice and  was always friendly and supportive.  I especially enjoyed learning about his military career and outstanding service for which he was most humble.  We will miss him.

You and Reed are great friends.  I appreciate so much the times we spent together.  I pray that you will find peace in knowing Reed is now pain free and his suffering is over.  You were a wonderful support to him for many, many years.  To you and your family, God Bless you in this time of sorrow.

Karrie, I, and our family are deeply saddened by Reeds passing and extend our sincerest sympathy to all of your family.

Reed was my big brother, mentor, confidant and best friend.  He was also a beloved uncle to my family. Many special visits were shared by both families and we have treasured memories of happy times together.

His passing has left a deep void in all of our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kay, Bill, Kelly and his grandchildren.

Reed has always been very sweet, giving and easy going to me.  I really enjoyed carving pumpkins during holloween with Reed, he had a fun, excited energy that made me happy. It was wonderful to visit him during Christmas, to see his smile. He loved the singing santa snoopy we gave him. I loved how often he would come visit with positive energy and walk Dusty our dog. I send all my support and love to our family and friends.

Kay and Family:  I am so sorry for your loss of a very good man.  Reed was special person I met in the second grade who became my life long friend.  I don't know anyone who  was as positive and good natured every time we met.  He always made me feel good to be around him.  We nicknamed him "Shifty" in High School because of his basketball moves. He was anything but shifty as a person.  My life was very much enhanced by knowing him.

I am so sorry to hear about Reed.  He was really a greaat friend and I always enjoyed working with him.  Since I didn't receive the usual Christmas card from him, I wondered if he was o.k..  He told me quite some time ago that he was having health problems.  My sincere condolences to Kay and the rest of the family.  Wish I could be there, but Colorado is just a bit distant.
