On a warm sunny fall day Renee Burton Wheeler Kingdon, our Mom, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, sister and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born March 8, 1928 in Levan, Utah to George Clinton and LaVer Iverson Burton. The ever growing family of 7 moved to Salt Lake in 1938. The family eventually grew to 14, 7 boys and 7 girls. Her Dad owned and a operated a dry cleaning business where Renee worked to help out, learning how to iron impeccably. She attended West High School. She met and married Darrell (Doc) Wheeler on Aug. 23, 1944. Through their union Judy and Jolene were born. He was killed March 7, 1951. She then married J. Paul Kingdon on May 28, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. He brought to their union daughters Penny and Nancy. With their blended family they added Debbie, Sheri and Scot. Renee worked at ZCMI in handbags and the girls department, but the jobs that she cherished most was being a homemaker, babysitting grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bowler and was very proud of her 600 series, a doll maker, a shopaholic, a lover of shoes, a cokeaholic and a HUGE Utah Jazz fan, which of course schedules had to be arranged around their games. She and Dad took great pride in attending all of their grandkids ballgames, trying not to miss any of them even if it took them out of state and were absolutely proud of each of them equally. She was generous to a fault like our Dad, loving and caring and was always looked up to. She loved camping, fishing, trips to Lake Powell, Flaming Gorge, family vacations, but overall she loved her family. She was strong headed and opinionated, for she was her father's daughter. She was soft and kind, for she was her mother's daughter. Although she may have been short in stature, she was a dynamo and loved all the current fashions down to her Ed Hardy shoes. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and anybody that had the privilege to have known her. She is survived by her children Penny (Glen) Reid, Nancy Kingdon, Judy Bingham, Jolene (Larry) Hardy, Debbie (Chuck) Shurtliff, Sheri (Ron) Lloyd and Scot Kingdon, 28 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one due any day, brothers Maurice, Dick, Fairon, Wayne and Kenny, sister's Geniel Gonzales, Sandy (Rick) Madrigal, Jackie (Danny) Larsen and best friends Don and Mable Sanderson. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands, siblings Irene, Veda, Max, Boni and Lynn and her sweet little grandson Christopher Lloyd. What a wonderful reunion that must have been! The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Silverado Senior Living especially to Ben, Clayton, Lindsey, Alissa, Joyce and Maddi for their tender loving care that they gave to our Mom and to Inspiration Hospice, Frankie, Natalie, Vicky and Wendy who made our Mom's transition comfortable. Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 13th at 12:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 Highland Drive. A viewing will take place Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and from 10:45 to 11:45 preceding the services.
