Dick attended West High School in Salt Lake City where he met his lifelong friends Gary Roberts (class of ‘52) and Carol Moyer Roberts of East High School.

Dick moved to the Los Angeles area of California as a young adult. Dick worked for many years for his friend Gordon Leiting as a plumber and later as a Master Plumber for Gordon's and Bender Plumbing in Santa Monica. He became a member of the United Association Plumbers and Pipefitters and Utah Pipe Trades Union.

Dick had a ski boat and enjoyed water skiing. He had a home in Idaho for a time, where he loved to fish and relax. While visiting St George, Dick reconnected with his good friend Carol Roberts and they were married (23 years). After winning the lottery in Santa Monica, they decided to buy a condo in St George, where they resided until their final days. Carol was instrumental in bringing Dick's children together to reconnect with their father.

Dick was known by his friends as a real joker. He loved to tease friends and family with little quips like, "Eat your vegetables because you'll grow hair on your chest.” He often started a sentence with...."When I was a little girl....". Everyone that knew him, knows how he loved a good barbecued steak. Dick & Carol spent many hours enjoying their outdoor patio in sunny St George, Utah. Dick said that he was very lucky to have married Carol and she changed his life for the better. They are together again in their final resting place and for all of Eternity.

Wife: Marilyn Janet Eames Capps Lewin (September 23, 1939 - July 15, 2018) Children: Brent Capps (deceased Oct 2020), Cheri Capps.

Grandchildren: Amber Capps Robey (deceased Jan 1997), Jenna Capps Robey Hutchinson, Brett Capps Perry, Scott Capps Perry, Contessa Baird Anderson, Matthew Baird.

Wife: Elke Woestmann Capps Nickles (Nov 14, 1942 - February 5, 1999) Children: Stephanie Boone Scribner (Tom), Richard (Rick) Enriquez (deceased Oct 2019) Grandchildren: Spencer, Scribner, Matthew Scribner.

Wife of 23 years: Carol Moyer Roberts Capps (December 16, 1936 - May 25, 2011) Children: Gary Roberts II (Karen deceased), Gil Roberts (Karen), Greg Roberts (Michelle), Cari Roberts, Geoffrey Roberts. Grandchildren: Ashley Roberts Flaminio (Anthony), Nicole Roberts, Jessica Roberts, Paul Roberts, Gayson Roberts, Gideon Roberts (Mirela), Geremiah Roberts, Gabriel Roberts, Abriana Roberts, Olivia Roberts, Lola Roberts, Jacki Ames, Cache Ames.
