I was born on a warm August morning in my grandparent's farm house in Johnstown NY, by the light of a kerosene lamp, to Perry and Mary Bates Johnson. My young years were spent in Gloversville NY, where I attended Estee and Gloversville High School. For several years I was employed by the Department of Sanitation, working on the “garbage trucks”. Those were happy years for me! In the early sixties, I met missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was baptized, and served as a missionary for the church in Florida and Georgia. I lived in Amsterdam NY for a while, working at the Amsterdam Hospital as an orderly before my sister Mary and I moved to Salt Lake City UT where I went to nursing school. and became one of the first males to be a nurse in Utah. I worked at several different hospitals and nursing homes throughout the Salt Lake valley. In 1995, due to major health problems, I retired from the work I loved.
I was predeceased by my parents, sisters Rosemarie (Konrad) Muller and Linda Cox, brothers Leroy and Samuel Johnson, and several dear friends. I am survived by my sisters Audrey (Peter) Devereaux of Warrensburgh MO, Jane (Ed) Bunn of Gloversville NY, Mary Osborne of Salt Lake City UT, sisters-in-law Linda and Pat Johnson, brother-in-law Norman Cox. Doug Taylor, my dearest brother, friend, and companion. Many friends, nieces, nephews, and last but not least, Beverly Taylor and my angels Gabriella, Golden Ray and Gianna, all of Pueblo Colorado.
