Ruth H. Kerr died on August 14, 2023 of natural causes at the age of 96. Ruth was born in Sublette, KS in 1927 to Abner and Ethel Henley. As a child, she grew up in Kansas & Colorado. As a young woman, Ruth attended business college and then worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. She married Dean D. Kerr, the love of her life, in Lawrence, Kansas. In 1962, they re-located to Boston, MA, and subsequently to Kearney, AZ & Chappaqua, NY returning to Salt Lake City in 1970.

Ruth’s priority was always her family. She was a loving & supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Ruth created a stable, comfortable, and loving home. She was a good cook who loved cooking for her family & entertaining friends. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, bowling, bridge, walking, cross-country skiing, and river-running.

Ruth was a member of the Assistance League and Town Club. She completed her B. A. in Fine Arts

at the University of Utah in 1983. She affiliated with the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) as a volunteer & docent for over 20 years & was able to travel extensively with the UMFA docents.

Ruth was adventurous, fun, loving, and supportive. She was very much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed in our daily lives.
