Shirley Storrs Allen, 95, died October 19th, 2014, just a few days after celebrating her 95th birthday with family and friends. She said then, “This is as old as I’m going to get,” and apparently she meant it. Shirley was born October 11, 1919, in Silver City Utah, to Wallace Glenn and Goldie Gear Storrs. She had one sister, Frances Storrs Kimball. She married Glen Allen on August 23rd, 1941, and they were married for almost 70 years, until he died in 2010. She is survived by her three children: Sharon, Scott (and his wife Inna and son Daniel); Mark (and his wife Susan); her beloved niece Janice Prokop (and her husband Rich); and her nephew Ronald Kimball (and his wife Ellen and son Matt). She also leaves behind her cousins Betty Fingl, Robert Pratt, and Barbara Bradley. Wonderful friends kept her company to the end, including Josie Guido, Norma Fowle, Ann Lambert, Peggy Sorenson, and Annie, Malcolm, Chloe, and Grace Kocherhans. Shirley was proud of her successful career as a Trust Officer for Zion's Bank. Her lifelong passion for reading and classical music instilled an appreciation for the arts in all her children. She also loved travel, and visited England, Russia, Italy, and Austria. She was for many years an active member of First Methodist Church, and a supporter of NPR, PBS, and Planned Parenthood. She will be buried next to Glen in Wasatch Lawn cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
