Susan was born in SLC to E. Wayne and Beverly Shaffer. She attended Granite High School and lived most of her adult life in Utah County. An enthusiastic BYU fan, Susan could be seen in blue and cheering on the Cougars in almost every sport, but especially loved basketball. Her second love was Disneyland! Susan collected classic Disney figurines and loved vacations to Disneyland with family and friends. She participated in Special Olympics for years competing in Bowling, which she learned from parents, and Basketball, which she learned from her brother. She participated in RAH activities, making many lifelong friends there. Susan was also active in her LDS ward and enjoyed attending the Temple with others, especially her Visiting Teacher. She loved country music, game shows, and being independent.
Susan is preceded in death by her father, E. Wayne Shaffer. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Shaffer; brother, Dennis Shaffer (Linda); her nieces and nephew, Emily Burr (Greg), Lisa Noyes, Alexie Baugh (Curtis), Gavin Shaffer (Amberle), Madeline Marshall (Blake); and many grand nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of Susan’s staff throughout the years for their dedication, care, and love. Thank you also to ward members, visiting teachers, home teachers, and bishops for helping support Susan spiritually and for special care given during her illness.
