Terry Doyle Mason

The oldest of Doyle and Ann Hopkins Mason’s five children, Terry was born Dec. 11, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

As a child, Terry lived in Las Vegas, Nevada; St. George, Utah; and in Salt Lake City, where he attended West High School. During high school he was introduced to football and spent hours playing the game. More importantly, he met the love of his life, Linda Meyer; the couple married Dec. 13, 1965. They are the parents of four sons: Bart, Brett, Mathew Aaron and Ryan Mason.

Terry and Linda raised their boys in Sandy, Utah, and Terry was a corrections officer at the Utah State Prison before working at and retiring from a career as a driver for the Kennecott Copper Mine.

He loved golfing, fishing with his friends and grandchildren and watching football — especially the University of Utah and the Chicago Bears. His favorite times, however, were spent with family at barbecues, birthday celebrations, and holiday get-togethers.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brett Mason; and his brother and his sister, Tony Mason and Carolann Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Meyer Mason; three sons and four daughter in laws — Bart and Karen Mason, Amy Sturdivant, Aaron and Ranae Mason, Ryan and Cindy Mason. He is also survived by two siblings — Gale Mason and Colleen Zdunich; nine grandchildren — Coltin Mason, Haylee Allen, Mason Burt, Wesley Mason, Breeanna Brown, Makel Mason, Jonah Mason, Ansley Mason and Cooper Mason; and two great grandchildren — Ben Allen, Sabrina Allen.

A public viewing for Terry will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT 84106. A viewing will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary from 10:00 to 10:45 AM followed by the graveside service at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 11:00 AM.
