

Our dear noble father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend Vern Kermit Wayman left this life for his heavenly home Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in West Valley City, Utah. He was born February 15, 1924 in Ephraim, Utah to Hugh S. Wayman and Beatrice M. Davidson Wayman. He married his eternal sweetheart, Ruth Bitter Wayman on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Vern graduated from Murray High School. He was a compassionate, righteous, creative man with endless talents. He was a pilot in the Air Force during WWII and loved flying. He also worked as a printer for the LDS Church for many years. Vern was a master gardener and was dedicated to helping his family live a healthy lifestyle. He also loved to play tennis, had a beautiful singing voice, was a whiz at math, and could fix cars, clocks and just about anything. The focus of his life was his family, and he spent many hours playing with and teaching his children and grandchildren using games and stories. Vern diligently fulfilled his many church callings including serving in the bishopric, elder’s quorum, Sunday school, membership clerk, three stake missions, cub scouts, and young men, among others. He had a strong unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and strove to teach his family to pray, study, and have a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and our Savior. He influenced everyone he knew with his kindness, compassion, wisdom, and strength of character. He left us a legacy of love, service, and sacrifice. He is survived by his children, Trena Young, Verna (Scott) Barclay, Paul (Linda) Wayman, Philip (Diana) Wayman, Ronald (Janette) Wayman, Sara (Kerry) Feil, Bonnie (Dave) Richardson, Kathie (Brent) Warnock; one sister, Anna Bea Anderson; He loved his 44 grandchildren, and 52 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth; his daughter, Deborah; parents; brothers, Hugh Wayman and Emery Wayman; grandson, Robert Wayman; son-in-law, Roger Young. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Cannon First LDS Ward located at 934 West Fremont Ave. (approx. 1100 south) Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the church Tuesday evening, December 3, 2013, from 6-8:00 p.m. at this same location and Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park
