

1926 ~ 2017
Jean Adaline Horman Wilburn passed away on the morning of September 13, 2017. She was the oldest daughter, as well as, the only daughter born to Phares Thomas and Sylvia Adaline Coolbear Horman on May 15, 1926. Her middle name was given to her as a namesake after her beautiful mother, Adaline. She was followed by three brothers.
Jean had a wonderful relationship with her mother while growing up. Being the oldest, she had many opportunities to become their favorite babysitter. Her mother also taught her how to use their modern wringer washer, the art of housekeeping, and how to bottle fruit.
Jean attended South High School and, at one of the school's dances, met her future husband, Mack Wilburn. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 4, 1945 and together had eight precious children.
Jean taught the eleven-year-old boys in Primary for thirteen years, and received experience in taking five-mile hikes, assisting them in passing off merit badges, as well as, preparing them to receive the Aaronic Priesthood. She also found she had a gift for doing genealogy and record keeping, and worked diligently to publish three books.
Jean was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Christopher Mack, her parents, her siblings, David LaMar Horman, and Kenneth Neal Horman, and daughters, Glorya Eve, Lawanna Mary Ricks and son-in-law, Jan Hendrix. Jean is survived by her brother, Phares Thomas Horman, Jr. and children, Sylvia, Christy (Dean), Merrilee (Barney), Tom (Janice), Tim (Susan), and Connie (Doug), and beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, located at 3401 S Highland Drive, SLC, Utah. Viewings will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary and Tuesday, September 19, 2017 one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn immediately following the funeral service.
