

William Wendell Beutler was born on November 26, 1928 in Logan, Utah to William and Mary Beutler. He attended Logan schools and graduated from Logan High School in 1947 and Utah State University in 1952. Upon graduation, he accepted an ROTC position in the U.S. Army as 1st Lieutenant serving two years at Gary Air Force Base in San Marcos, Texas, where he completed a U.S. Army primary training course for pilots. He also served a one-year tour of duty at Fort Knox, Kentucky and three years in Germany.
Bill married Valoy Nielsen in 1950. They later divorced. He and his wife, Cora, were married in October 1959, in Ogden. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple in July 1964.
Bill joined the Bank of Utah upon leaving military service in 1957 and graduated from the Pacific Coast School of Banking at the University of Washington in 1964. He was employed by the Bank of Utah for 25 years retiring as Executive Vice President. While employed at the bank he had the opportunity to serve in several national banking organizations. He served as a national director for the Bank Administration Institute for two years from 1977 to 1979.
Bill established the Pledge Accounting Records for the initial Ogden area United Fund Drive. In 1980, Bill developed a Money Market Draft Account which allowed banks to pay a competitive interest rate during a period of high market interest rates. Bill presented this plan at a National Bank Administration Institute meeting and the plan was adopted by the Bank of Utah and later by the entire banking industry.
Bill, his wife Cora, and son Scott organized Publishers Distribution Center in 1987. They successfully operated the company until year-end 1997 when the company was sold. Following two years of retirement, Bill worked as the Asset Accounting Officer for Challenger Schools.
Bill could fix anything and he and Cora always had projects they would work on together. He loved classical music, gardening, woodworking and most of all being with his family. He was an active member of the LDS church and served faithfully in his many callings.
He is survived by his wife Cora, children Dianne Snyder, Elko, NV, Lori Hayes, Cedar City, UT, Raelene Kammeyer, Layton, UT and Scott (Michele) Beutler, Salt Lake City, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, William Craig Beutler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11am at the LDS Stake Center on 1160 E. Vine St. in Murray. There will be a Friday evening viewing at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 S. Highland Drive) from 6-8pm as well as one-hour prior to services at the church. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at www.wasatchlawn.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Service.
