

Anthony J. Antoniou of Miller Place, formerly of Astoria, N.Y. passed away on September 18, 2017 at the V.A. Nursing Home Building 92, in Northport L.I., peacefully surrounded by his second family of dedicated and loving nurses, doctors, staff and friends. He was born in Limassol, Cyprus and arrived in New York in 1939 and studied Radio and T.V. service repair. He is the beloved husband of the late Olga. He is survived by his loving children Maria Elaina, Helen and Nicholas: His nephew and nieces Andrew and Susan Televandos, Alexandra Marino, Lamro Gregoriou, Mary Gregoriou-Bauer, Rosane Axente and Harry Nicolaides: His grand nephews and nieces Amanda and Brian Williams, Ashleigh and Evan Ballis, Stephanie and Michael Marino and extended friends and family. On June 1, 1942 he enlisted in the U.S.Army, 82nd Airborne Division 505th Parachute infantry. He participated in the Invasion at Sicily, Naples, Foccia, Normandy, Rome, Arno, Bulge, Holland, Germany and Africa. He made 4 combat jumps and was a bazooka team leader. Recipient of a silver star, two bronze stars, five purple hearts, named Chevalier/Knight of the Legion of Honor and other medals. He was a former member at the VFW Fisher/Hewins Post 6249 in Rocky Point, L.I. He was generous and patient to his family, friends and extended family. He was an active member, throughout his life, in political and philanthropic organizations and a choir member in his church. He enjoyed music, singing, painting, writing and marquetry.
