Anthony John Stellato, age 77, of Rocky Point, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Anthony will be remembered for his love of family and his generous spirit. Born on March 25, 1947, to Louis and Rose Stellato in the Bronx, NY. Anthony lived a life full of love, learning, and dedicated service to his family and community.
A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Anthony was a Chemistry teacher for 55 years. Retired after 30 years of teaching at Middle Country, continued his career as an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College for 33 years, where he inspired countless students with his knowledge and enthusiasm. Anthony’s dedication to education was evident in his remarkable academic achievements, earning six master’s degrees over the course of his life. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to teaching left an indelible mark on his colleagues and students. Even after his diagnosis, Anthony’s first concern was his ability to return to teaching.
Known for what seemed to be an eidetic memory, Anthony could recall information with remarkable precision. He had a deep fondness for poetry and found beauty in the written word. Anthony had a passion for traveling, especially to his favorite destination, Rome, where he visited 27 times. Additionally, Anthony was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, having attained his 4th Degree.
Anthony shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Irene. Together, they built a beautiful family and created a legacy of love and kindness. He leaves behind his beloved sons, Anthony (Lisa), John, and Louis. His grandchildren were the light of his life, Victoria, Brooklyn, Anthony, Kamryn, Louis, and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence; his sister, Francine; and his many nieces and nephews—Eric, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Alexandra, Kim, Kathy, Kristy, Dennis, and Paul—who all loved and admired him deeply. Anthony was preceded in death by his brother, Louis, whose memory he carried close to his heart.
Anthony’s family invites relatives and friends to a visitation in his honor on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at O. B. Following Mass, Anthony will be laid to rest during an interment and committal service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Liberty Ave, Port Jefferson, NY 11777.
