Father Papa...was a special and kind man who will be missed.  He performed the Wedding ceremony  for our wedding . I'm sorry to hear of his passing...God bless !

We were fortunate as a parish of St. Edward The Confessor, Syosset NY to have Fr. Papa as an associate.  This was in the late 60’s, early 70’s. All of us young ones were thrilled to have a young priest,  of pretty much our generation and just a bit older than us. He was very kind and dedicated to ministering to us and involving and drawing in the young people to the church. Rest In Peace with the Lord.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Father Papa. He was a very large part of my life growing up in Long Beach. Rest in Peace Father. 

We are so saddened by the passing of our wonderful friend Father Charles.  We have so many wonderful memories.  He may be gone but he will live in our hearts forever.

I knew Fr. Charles 57 years back when he was a fellow student at Chaminade High School.  I can see from the other comments here that he served his flock well following  the Lord's words to St. Peter:  "Do you love me? Feed my sheep."

My memory of Father Charley is his smile when I reminded him of being of Italian descend and of his performing our sixtieth wedding anniversary. Thank you Father Charley and we are going to miss you.

I met Father Charlie through a friend while he was at Saint Sylvestor's.  I was warmly welcomed by him and we were invited into the rectory for coffee after mass. I never felt like a "Stranger" after that morning. I will always remember Father Charlie's kindness, gentleness and wit. May he rest in peace.

What leaves me with regret, is that we recently invited  you to come over and have dinner at our house. We were eagerly awaiting that visit.
This Easter Sunday, we will set one extra table setting.... For you Father Charlie!

My condolences to the Papa family. I had the pleasure of seeing Father Papa at my daughter's wedding just four weeks ago on 2/25/17 at St. Louis de Montfort Church. Thank you for a beautiful wedding ceremony, your kind words, and happy spirit. It was a pleasure meeting Father Papa.

Father Charlie was always kind, compassionate, and he was always there with his big smile. He loved his parish and always thanked parishioners for volunteering at the many ministries. His sense of humor often brightened our days. We will miss you Father.

Father Charlie had been a priest at St. Louis for as long as I could remember. He was one of the kindest people I ever had the pleasure to meet, and his homilies always made me think, even at a young age. My condolences for the loss and I'm sorry I can't be home to honor him at his services. The parish of St. Louis will be left with a big hole in its heart, as am I.

So very sad to hear of Father Charlie passing. When I was pregnant 27 years ago and decided to come back to my faith, Fr. Charlie was there with open arms welcoming me into the St. Sylvester's parish. I have missed him since he was transfered to Sound Beach, I remember taking my children to attended his first mass at St. Louis de Montfort. Love and prayers to his entire family.

We were so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Fr. Charlie. When we first moved to Medford we were told St. Sylvester's was our parish and we were blessed to have Fr. Charlie as Pastor. He heard my Confession, my first one in many, many years, and he was so comforting and soft spoken that I knew I was in the right church! A few years later when I became a Catechist Fr. Charlie greeted us as we came to the first meeting after Summer vacation. I was so astonished when he greeted me by name with a big smile. He brought me back to my faith and encouraged me to be an active Catholic. Fr.Charlie was a true shepherd to those of us who were blessed to have been part of his parish. Our deepest condolences to his family. We will never forget Fr. Charlie.

Working with Father Charlie at St. Sylvester's Church in Medford was an absolute delight! We transformed the Thrift Shop into a "boutique" in order to serve the community. His encouragement, enthusiasm and support will forever be held in my heart!

Fr. Charlie welcomed our family with open arms, a warm hug, and a smile as new parishoners four short years ago. He was an excellent priest, a humble servant, and a gentle, kind man with a great sense of humor.  The Holy Spirit was with him and his faith was an example for all of us. We enjoyed our chats after Mass and at various parish events. He made everyone feel special and important. We were blessed to know you even for such a short time....we will miss you Fr. Charlie!

Father Charlie was perhaps one of the most sincere priests my family has ever known. God bless him as he continues his ministry from heaven.

 I worked for Fr. Papa in St. Sylvester.  He was such a gentle and inspiring priest to us.  He consoled us as a family, when my son passed.  I loved going to confession to him because his calmness and wisdom was so helpful.  I just drove him back to the rectory on Thurs. or Fri. because he couldn't find his keys and it was bitter cold outside.   Little did I know he would die the next day. Thank you dear Charlie for 50 wonderful years of ministry, friendship, faith, food and family. You have been a special part of our lives, sharing good times and not so good with us. I can imagine the reunion  in heaven with your dear brother Ed, your beloved parents, Jack, Donald and Ernie, our dear Aggie and all those you loved who have gone before you. When someone like Father Pappa passes, I try to be thankful that I had the opportunity to be with them and still have the greatest of memories, but it doesn't seem to be enough to console me. I am very sorry for your loss and for St Louis de Montfort's loss as well because of the value that he added to the community he served, He was very special and took the time necessary for each individual he encountered. We met Charlie over 50 years ago when we all worked together at the summer program at Little Flower Home in Wading River and became lifetime friends.  He had the perfect combination of goodness and mischief that drew so many to him.  We miss you, Charlie: until we meet again.

Fr. Charlie was a wonderful Pastor but mostly he was a great priest.  He was so kind and compassionate to all people in times of sadness; and so much fun in good times. It has been a great privilege to have known Father Charles for more than fifty  years.  My family and I were lucky enough to enjoy his friendship and dedication to his wonderful family and friends.
