

Papa, Rev Charles E. Entered the fullness of life March 18, 2017. Ordained to serve the people of Rockville Centre Diocese on May 27, 1967. Born on July 31, 1941, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Genevieve Grystar Papa. He was raised and educated on Long Island, a graduate of Chaminade High School, Cathedral College, and Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington. As a priest of Jesus for fifty years, he happily fulfilled his ministry in seven parishes, currently as Pastor Emeritus of St. Louis de Montfort Church in Sound Beach. He is survived by two sisters, Marianne K. Carpenter of Brentwood, and Catherine M. Papa of Bayside; and brother, Michael J. Papa of West Tisbury, Massachusetts. Predeceased by Michael’s twin, Edward J. Papa on September 11, 2001. Also survived by sister-in-law Patti Papa of Oyster Bay; and dear nieces and nephews, Claudine (Frank) Fiore, William (Gina), Christian (Raquel) Carpenter; Michelle (Bree), Margaret (David), Kacee Papa and Elizabeth (Andrew) Simons; grandnephew Matthew and grandnieces Alexandra, Nicole (his beloved goddaughter) and Isabella Fiore. Also, by grandnephews and grandnieces Genevieve and Lucas Carpenter, Edward and James Simons, and Annabella and Dominic Sanchez. The family will receive parishioners and friends at St. Louis de Montfort Church on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 2 pm to 7 pm. Mass of Transferal at 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2017, 11 am at the Church. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram. In place of flowers, donations to Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson will be appreciated. He was a priest of the Second Vatican Council.
