Ethel Margaret Leary

Leary, Ethel Margaret on May 22, 2013 of Ridge, Long Island. Beloved wife of the late Daniel. Loving mother of Joan Kollar and her husband Richard; Kevin and wife Meghan and his late wife, Joyce. Cherished grandmother of Kimberly, Daniel, Christopher, Kevin Jr. and Gregory. Adored great grandmother of Avery, Sloane, and Madeline Margaret.

Ethel was born to Charles and Lillian West in Brooklyn on October 10, 1924. She attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and upon his return from World War II was married to Daniel F. Leary. Ethel and Dan moved to Merrick, LI where they lived for 35 years and raised their two children. While Ethel worked originally as a salesperson for Gimbels, she spent most of her career working as a bank teller for Banker's Trust/ Barclay's . After Dan passed away Ethel found a new life in the Leisure Glen Community where she enjoyed the company of many wonderful friends over the next 25 years. Ethel was a dedicated wife, mother and friend and was loved by all whose lives she touched. She battled many injuries and illnesses these past few years but her love of family kept her spirit alive and her sense of humor ever present. Ethel was a truly amazing woman and role model for us all and memories of her will always be in our hearts.

Reposing at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, LI. Visitation Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes at 10 am on Thursday. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
