Louise Germano, age 94, of Ridge, New York passed away peacefully on Saturday December 22, 2018 surrounded by her sons, Arthur and Edward. Louise was born February 12, 1924 in Manhattan, New York to Luigi and Liberata Marchesani, both Italian immigrants. Louise had two brothers (Charles and Anthony) and a sister (Cecilia) that predeceased her.
Beloved wife of the late Arthur for 67 years. Loving mother of Edward Germano and his wife Grace and Arthur Germano and his wife Karen. Devoted grandmother of Christopher Edward Germano and his wife Nicole, Jennifer Lynne Knight and her husband Stephen, and Matthew Lincoln Germano. Proud great grandmother of Ryan Christopher Germano and Mason Ross Knight.
Married to her husband Arthur (a proud WWII Army veteran who was part of the Normandy invasion) in 1949, Louise was a devoted mother helping to raise her two sons. Her family was her life. A great cook (learned at her mother’s side), meals at an apartment in the Bronx and then in a house in the suburbs of Long Island, were always a major event that everyone looked forward. Every meal cooked was an Italian feast and she loved every minute of putting it all together.
Again, family was everything to Louise. Her family was the light of her life, and she let us know it until the very end. The love she gave was always returned many times over especially during her health challenges in recent years. A strong, independent woman, she had opinions on everything that she freely shared. She kept scores of notecards with short sayings she pulled out of books and magazines. They were always words to live by that she shared with her sons.
A visitation for Louise will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY 11764. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 614 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY 11778. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, New York 11933.
