

Tom passed away peacefully on Tuesday night, February 12, 2013 holding his daughter’s hand and his father’s crucifix. Born March 3, 1930, to the late Thomas and Josephine (Hickey) Cleary, Tom leaves behind his adored and loving wife, Anne (nee Brogan), sons, Thomas (Suzanne), Richard (Kathleen), daughters Pamela (John) and Patricia (Eric) as well as 11 cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brian, Mark, Richard, Meaghan, Anne, Claire, John, Michael, Molly, Rachel and his new great grandson, Jake, for whom he had the privilege to meet and hold just prior to his passing. Tom was a deeply religious and charitable man, a retired NYPD detective serving on the force for twenty-three years. After his career in law enforcement, Tom went on to manage the Eastern Division of the NATB. Upon retirement at the NATB, he and Anne moved out to Montauk where he fished, cooked, swam and marveled at the beauty of the East End beaches. Tom frequently entertained scores of family and friends at his Montauk home which was his greatest joy.
