William "Andy" DiDonato

William “Andy” DiDonato, age 95, of Mount Sinai, New York, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. Born on April 17, 1930, in New York City, Andy grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. Over the years, he made his home in Hempstead, Seaford, and most recently Mount Sinai, where he was surrounded by family and friends who deeply loved him.

Andy cherished summers spent in the family’s beloved home in Naples, Maine. There, he created a lifetime of joyful memories, filled with laughter, love, and the simple pleasures of time spent together.

He enjoyed a long and dedicated career as an Installer for the New York Telephone Company, where his strong work ethic, reliability, and warm personality earned the respect of all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Andy was admired for his wisdom, his gentle spirit, and his adventurous outlook on life.

Andy was predeceased by his devoted wife, Ruth Rose (née Rolland) DiDonato, with whom he shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised a loving family that was the heart of his world. Andy is survived by his children: Andrea Genua (John), Bill DiDonato, Michele Olson (Carl), and Warren DiDonato (Maureen). He was a proud grandfather to Andrew DiDonato, Amanda DiDonato, Joseph DiDonato, Ruthie DiDonato, Heather Olson, Brooke Olson, Emily Olson, Rachel Olson, Carl Olson, Claudia Sarnowska, Christina DiDonato, and John Genua.

Andy is also survived by his beloved sister Jenny Annicaro, and many cherished nieces and nephews: His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in every milestone and accomplishment they achieved.

Andy found joy in life’s simple moments—keeping up with current events, completing crossword puzzles, and playing his favorite game, Jumbo. Above all, he valued time spent with family, whose love and laughter filled his days with meaning.

Andy will be forever remembered for his kindness, devotion, and the love he shared so freely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
