I remember the first time I saw Lauren. It was the summer after 6th grade on a G.R.E.A.T program we both attended. I had just lost my mother and did not have many friends at all. From the first day Lauren opened her heart and life to me. We went horseback riding on the trails in Tahoe together. I remember she accidentally made her horse rear and it scared us both but we still laughed about it. I was just talking with her 2 days before she left us. We were planning a summer full of concerts. From flogging Molly to shinedown, we shared our love for music. We almost went to see Ghost on January 25th but i couldnt get the time off. I wish more than anything we went. I have nothing but beautiful memories with her. From countless sleep overs as kids, to our dream of starting a 2 girl band. Though neither of us musically talented, we were determined. One sleep over, we were trying to call a boy we'd been crushing on, his phone number had 911 in it. Somehow the phone dialed 911 and not his number. This was around 2 am. We quickly hung up when we heard the dispatcher on the other line. They called back to verify that there was no emergency. Lauren tried so hard to sound like her mom and assure them it was just the kids messing with the phone; however, the police still showed up to make sure there was not a situation on their hands. Kathleen was woken by them banging on the door. We died laughing. We used to do photo shoots in the back yard of their home. It was so beautifully landscaped. We always thought it captured a side of us no one saw. I also remember when she got her Jetta. She took me on a ride of a lifetime. Driving fast on all the bendy roads, we blasted music and opened all the windows. Feeling free as we sped down the highway.  I miss her so much. she's been on my mind every day. We just reconnected in November of 21 it had been 2 years since we saw each other. The best part was we picked up right where we left off. 

Thank you for making our little community a better place, Lauren. Won't be the same without you.

Going on 2 weeks since I got the news in our online fitness community and I'm still grieving. How do you explain to friends and family that you're mourning the loss of someone you never met in person? I've lost young friends, teammates, classmates throughout my teens/twenties due to a variety of causes. Something is different here. Even though I'm a couple years older than Lauren, it appears we graduated high school the same year. After seeing the gallery, I feel like we grew up together since we've both been in this online community since we were teenagers. I can't even convey what I'm feeling to a counselor nor seem to receive any comfort. Lauren was truly that special. Seeing her family photos and reading the other memories here seems to only reinforce my perception that she was an enigma. Now all I can think about is what I wish I had said when we were online together. She was different in the best way and I'll be damned if I'm lucky enough to encounter another kindred, compassionate soul with a sharp wit and humor like hers again. Her beauty really shines through everything shared here. Thank you to her family and friends who knew her so well and beautifully verified what we believed about her at the forum. Life is so brutally unfair. Why would someone who did so much good in this life be taken so young and given such a variety of maladies to fight through? She stayed up late talking one of our users down from the ledge so to speak when he was having a particularly bad night of drinking. I've gone back and read many of her posts which I missed and she was so consistent in her candor and thoughtfulness. One last thing, she claimed to be an atheist a couple times and while I have no religious convictions myself, I just hope she exists in some shape or form in this universe. If there is an afterlife, I will be looking for her when I get there.

I only knew her through social media and she was a good human being, and a good friend and she was kind to us and to anyone she ever knew, and she had a little pet dog as I remember and she was nice to it, and she was also active and an athlete on her right. May she rest in peace, and condolences to your family.

Lauren was a beautiful soul and I feel lucky to have know her. I’m sorry for your loss.

I treasure my moments with Lauren as a kid. A lot of dancing, singing, cartwheels, somersaults, trampoline jumps, pool dives, tree climbs, frog catching, animal cuddling, drawing, baking, swimming, and lots of laughing. 

I treasure my moments with Lauren as a teen. Watching her cheer, play softball, wrestle. A lot of art, playing video games, walking around the neighborhood, eating vegetarian sushi. 

Some of my best high school memories are of picking Lauren up for zero period, blasting our favorite songs, singing along as loud as we could, and grabbing breakfast at Woodett’s Diner before class or tea at 88 Cups.

I treasure my moments with Lauren as an adult. Cheering her on from afar while she finished college, went to law school, competed in body building. 

Of all of Lauren’s talents and accomplishments there is one thing I will never forget about her… During a middle school dance I was chaperoning, I walked in to the bathroom and found my little sister surrounded by a few girls that bullied her. Standing right next to her was Lauren. Lauren could have just left the bathroom like a few others had, but she didn’t. Lauren was standing there, yelling at them to stop and physically holding them back, defending my sister. Lauren never backed down from bullies. She would go out of her way to help others that needed it. She was always that way. 

I will always treasure our friendship and will always be grateful that Lauren stood up for and protected my sister when others didn’t.

I haven’t seen Lauren in many years, but she was my neighbor as a kid growing up on green acres. She quickly became best friends, her mom was our Girl Scout leader and took a crazy bunch of young girls on many adventures. I have so many childhood  memories with Lauren and I’m devasted to hear the news. She will always hold a special place in my heart and may she Rest In Peace! I send all my love to the Kelly’s, Lauren and her family shaped my childhood. ♥️

Indelible memories of girl scout meetings, crafts, drawings, cooking, playing in the fields, the creek, the big pond, boats, frogs and muddy girls, giggles, sleepovers, movie nights, ornament parties, music, dancing, good food, my first Tofurky experience, a myriad of animals and reptiles, softball,  rollerskating, bikes, Lake Tahoe beaches, hikes, and astronomy facts galore,    

I admired Lauren’s strength, her athleticism, her wit, her infectious smile, her style.  She loved her family deeply, and her friends. And she knew love in return.  

Sending love and condolences to her family,  I wish you peace, and the comfort of her continuing presence in your life.

Lauren Kelly the world is less lovely without you in it! Her love of family especially her loving brother Tommy is extraordinary. The two as children like all children tease, pester always smiling. Tommy shy, quieter, Lauren vibrant a little less quiet balance one another beautifully. Like all teens pushed her parents buttons especially her mothers. Kathleen like all mothers always looking for the serum to sooth the insatiable teen. Her love for her mother was never measured it just was abundant. If I could say one thing about Lauren and family it would be pinaccle to her joy. Hers was a non typical daddys little girl though when the two stood side by side there was no doubt. Her father was her knight in shining armor. She would often say I just love to hear my fathers voice. "Dad say something!" "What? Why?" "Because, no reason say something!" Literally turned the tv down to hear him from the other room. "I love you, did you do you brush your teeth?" See? Magical. When he speaks I feel safe, loved, happy. His voice was always tender when speaking of her his little angel! Though he also would say, "well, I dont know about that!" Her vivacious appetite for creatures from rolly polely to canines all in betweens were almost called to her. Not kidding animals would just come to her. Dr. Doolittle in miget form. Her tiny stature was nothing compared to her boisterous personality. Smiles beget smiles when Lauren Kelly smiled at someone. Infectious was her joyful noise. I have never seen her cross, annoyed yes! Impatient for results, maybe! The grass damp, wet all around, feet sunk into the ground until our feet were under, mucky, cold, fulfiing as Tommy & Lauren mastered the art of bull frog tales. From mimicking silly sounds to expert catching techniques Lauren & her brother didnt just catch & release, no Lauren wanted to keep them all. Her sense of whimsy, carefree nature masked her true analytic thought process of the whole universe not just some of it. Miss you...

She reached out to me when I was grieving for my own sister. Asked how to make things easy for her loved ones. Now the news hit me harder because I know it first hand. 

Must have been an absolute blessing to have her as a family member or a loved one. She was with you for 30 years now she'll be watching over her family& friends from the skies. 

That was her message to me, sharing this so her family can read: 
"I am trying to just live like everything is good

Still go to the gym everyday, travel, go out with friends. It’s not easy to not be depressed but at this point I feel like I need to cherish time that I have just in case I want them to remember our time together as happy not sad."

I only had the privilege of knowing Lauren online, and it was just that, an absolute privilege.  To her friends and family who were lucky enough to know her in person, I promise you, she will not be forgotten, and she has influenced so many more lives than you realize in a positive way.  The world is an exponentially better place thanks to Lauren Kelly, and her legacy will live on forever through her infectious kindness and positivity.

I only know Lauren (Snails) via the bodybuilding forum but she was a great character and source of inspiration to many.  RIP x

Even with all of the things you were going through, you were always positive and had nice things to say.  Whether you knew it or not, you made a big difference to a lot of people around you, even to us bros on the misc.  Thanks for the laughs, the great advice and the reps.


I only knew Lauren from the Bodybuilding.com forum but she had a lasting impact for all who she interacted with. Always so supportive and kind, we will remember her fondly. My deepest condolences at the loss of this light that burned so very brightly.   

I never met Lauren in person, and had only become aware of her on the Misc in November 2021.  But she was always trying to help people with their problems, despite her own health problems and was very kind to all. That she has a 24 page and counting tribute thread speaks volumes as to the impact she made.  It was incredibly sad news and I shall miss her warm presence there.

Most people you run across in life are going to be somewhat calloused, cynical, and guarded. That's survival. Life scars us, gradually erodes our ability to empathize, and protects us from the pain we know is laying in wait ahead, ready to ambush.


But Lauren wasn't that. She had candor and warmth. She never shied away, never asked for anything, and never stopped nurturing the people (and animals) around her even when saddled with tribulations far beyond what anyone could possibly deem fair. She could take it. 


We often discussed animals and our aspirations to involve them more in our lives, but the topic also drifted to other areas of life seemingly at random and with no finite endpoint; everything from turtle food to cancer treatment. Spotting her icon was always an instant comfort.


I'll remember Lauren as someone who always found the energy to deliver a word of encouragement and lend a sympathetic ear. She made us all feel a little bit better. And she made us all want to be a little bit better to each other.

Our sweet Lauren was so loved by her family and everyone who knew her, and will live forever in our hearts. I will miss her kindness, her joy, her energy and her friendship. As a family friend for 20+ years, I had the privilege of watching her grow from a cute, playful little girl into an amazing, confident, brilliant, beautiful and kind young woman, I feel a profound sense of loss at her passing and my heart especially breaks for her family. I'm praying for comfort and peace for all of us who loved her, and I'm thankful for the happy times we shared while she was here. Sending so much love and hugs to my Kelly family.

Cant believe she's gone. I dont think a lot of people knew she was getting this close to the end. But what I can say is that all of us miscers  are/were in shock and I can speak for everyone when I say we all miss her dearly. We never knew it would be this soon. She always had kind things to say and personally I wish I would have reached out more often. 

RIP Snails. You will never be forgotten and will be a Misc legend, forever. 

Lauren was stunning, intelligent, strong, beautiful, accomplished, forgiving, good willed, selfless and loving in everything she did. Anything that came her way she did it with grace and her heart on her sleeve. A couple of weeks ago She gave me a quote that resonated with her… you can’t  wait for the world to be easy to be happy. There’s not a second that I don’t think about all the laughs, dinners, FaceTimes, text messages, and all trips and plans we had. It was a blessing that she allowed me and my son to a part of her world. Lauren will always be loved and missed everyday. 

Like others I only knew Lauren through a bodybuilding forum but I feel compelled to add a message. She was the sweetest, friendliest girl you could hope to meet, but what struck me most was her kindness. Always positive and motivating and I feel blessed that our paths crossed. I hope her family feel extremely proud of Lauren and realize how many lives she touched with her light. 

Condolences to her family and friends. Our hearts are truly saddened by the news of her passing. I knew Lauren from online. She was the sweetest person who radiated positivity whenever she posted. When you were feeling down, she always had something kind to say to lift your sprits. She’s the kind of person who was such a ray of sunshine and such a breath of fresh air, she made you wanna reach a little higher to be a better person.

Another misc brother here.  She was an absolute blessing to us all, a light and kind soul.  She always brought positivity to any situation and seemed like such a genuinely "good" person. Lauren helpt keep my sober with her work. When I first heard her speak I thought what a miracle and if she can do this then I can too and I kept coming back because she told me to. The group learned yesterday morning of her passing and had nothing but love and the fondest memories of her bubbly spirit to share. I will always be grateful to have heard her share her story and pray that her dignified death brings comfort to another like me. I will continue to stay sober in honor of Lauren's legacy.  My prayers go out to her family. 

Another bodybuilding forum member here. Lauren brought kindness and positivity to our little corner of the internet. We are grateful to for the time that she shared with us. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones. 

I never had the chance to meet Lauren but we spoke multiple times throughout the years. She was always a beacon of knowledge and positivity and now, knowing her struggles, it's even more impressive she was able to maintain that stoic veneer in the face of mortality. She never asked for pity - her main concern was the well being and happiness of others. People like this are rare and should be cherished. She was truly a beautiful person, inside and out, and the world is darker in the absence of her light.

Lauren was loved by all of us at the bodybuilding.com forum. She was the sweetest person we knew, with a heart of gold. She didn't deserve anything that happened to her. May she finally find peace.

We're all deeply saddened by her loss and hundreds of us in our online community have been coming together these past few days to share all of the great memories we had of her. It takes a truly special person to have such an impact on so many people's lives. Rest in Paradise Lauren. You  will be missed. 

She left a large impact with a ton of people that she has never met.  She was always positive and rolled with the punches.  It's very disheartening to hear that she has physically left this planet.  I wish all her friends and family think of the positive times they have shared with her and want them to know she definitely had a positive impact on a lot of people's lives.  

Another forum member here, Lauren always spread positivity and there is far too little of that in the world these days. If life has taught me anything, it’s that it is far too short, and while that may not seem fair we have to consider ourselves blessed by those we have lost because the time spent with them is that much more special.

I’ve only known this spectacular woman through a fitness forum for about half a year, but she always radiated positive energy. It brightened my day whenever I came across her lovely genuine smile in her profile photos, but she’s thousands of amazing things more than that.


It really pains me that these past few years were so rough for Lauren, much rougher than she was letting on. She was an exemplary human being through and through. I’ve recently learned about all the charitable work she has done, and this has driven me to become a more selfless person like her. 


Goodbye Lauren.  I hope there are plenty of cute snails in heaven : )

I’ve only known her through the fitness forums but I can see, reading through her posts that she was an especially kind soul. A pure and loving nature. Many times God gives such great souls a hardship such as her health issues and then takes them back at what seems as an untimely death , because they are the true angels of the universe and their energy is needed for a larger purpose than the human form. She is shining upon us all, infinitely in her true beautiful form. We all love you girl. Happy travels. You will be missed here.

Lauren answered my body recompositioning questions and gave great advice about avoiding injuries and recovering from old ones. She told me about spirulina, which I now take. Her deadlifting twice her body weight was inspiring. She always posted fair, educational comments, even though she knew she was dying. She took on some legal cases pro bono.
She deserved far better than this. I'm glad she had such a positive outlook, as she stated in her conversations with us all when the topic came up. I wish she knew about the 20 page, 600 post, online funeral we had. Every person who argued with her or benfited from her comments over the years is teary-eyed right now, discussing what a great person she was, as we share all we know. She valued relationships with people. Her death united hundreds of people who usually argue with each other and give each other put downs.

I had never had what was no doubt the great fortune to meet such a kind soul, but had interactions with Lauren like a lot of people here on an online fitness community - she never had a bad thing to say about anyone and always radiated incredible positivity, even in what few of us knew were some very dark times.

Weird to think you've lost a friend when you haven't actually met, but I - and many of us - feel that way. 

Too young, too soon and too good of a person. 

Rest easy.

Lauren was only an internet friend from a fitness forum until I asked if she would be willing to speak to a group who share a similar path in life. She said yes, and I finally had the chance to hear her share her life story and journey to how she became the beautiful, savvy, peaceful, wise woman she blossomed into. We are all devastated by losing such a good woman. She was always kind and generous, no matter who you were, and selflessly served others. You are loved, Lauren. Rest easy. 

Another member of the online fitness community who never met Lauren but was fortunate enough to have some interaction with her that left a lasting impact. There's a massive tribute to her memory as a poster on the forum and it's just surreal the way she was able to send her positivity through a digital sphere. She had superpowers we can only dream of. Never felt like this over someone I never actually met in person. Just a total gut punch to existence. RIP beautiful

What terrible heartache, loss and shock you must be feeling. Lauren will always have a beautiful soul that loved so hard. 
I was lucky enough to be her third grade teacher. I remember her as a challenge, because she was so passionate and was unsure how to express it. She was also, so smart and creative. Then, I was able to see her as an adult and she was quietly reserved, beautifully poised and not surprisingly,  very achieved. 
I am so sorry that you have to walk this grief journey. May all Lauren’s light shine brightly upon you and may she give you the strength you need to put one foot in front of the other each day. Be gentle with yourself ♥️

Lauren was such a beautiful soul and gave so much to everyone around her.  I met her years ago on a bodybuilding forum and she was such a good friend from the very beginning.  She will always be an iron sister and the misc forum has been hit hard.  My condolences go out to her entire family.  Wishing all of you some kind of peace during this very difficult time.

I can remember all the girls playing in our pond off old foothill road.  The girls didn’t have a care in the world.  They just laughed and enjoyed a perfect summers day.  They returned to our house soaked and muddy.  We hosed them off and made the dry off outside.  They all slept over and more fun was had. 
Great times. 

I’m so incredibly sorry to hear about Lauren’s passing. I can’t imagine what her loved ones are going through. While my friendship with Lauren was short, it impacted my life in so many positive ways. We met each other at the Center and bonded quickly. She had incredibly kind soul, was passionate, sweet, giving, and hardworking. Her loss is a great one and she will be missed dearly.

About five years ago, Lauren was in Vegas to attend the EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival). With time to spare before her room  would be ready, we picked her up at the airport and brought her over for lunch... and learned that she loved  Vicki's frittata and could put away volumes of food. On the way to her hotel, we saw some sites and talked about her brother, who was a "Freakin' Genuis!". Her mom, who was the most successful "Small Town Lawyer" in America, and had never lost a case.  And Gary, who  was cool, doing great, and that he made most of his business contacts on the golf course. 
Although we only knew Lauren for a matter of hours, we found her easy going manner enjoyable and fun to be with. Lauren seemed so mature for her age, that Vicki suspected she was an old soul.  

We know she will be missed...




Lauren babe 💕you were one of a kind always smiling even when people were rude and disrespectful to what they had to say about you and I’ll never forget in school when the group of girl’s were talking about you and you just kept talking to me like nothing was happening and when I said something to them yer response was “it’s fine” no it was never fine an you are one of the most beautiful souls who always wanted to see the greatness in anything. I’ll always remember the show’s we went too, the house parties especially yers at yer mom’s 🫀🥰. I truly believe when they say the most beautiful souls are taken too soon. 

I have so many amazing memories with and I thank you for that. Thank you for teaching me life lessons without and with you knowing it.

I went to middle school with Lauren and I vividly remember her artistic nature. Eric, Lauren and I shared belly laughs until our stomachs hurt in our art class.  I shared a few others with her, but that art class was where she shined. I am saddened to her of her passing and hope to join you at her services. 

I remember Lauren as a darling and smart  girl  when I worked  at  Minden Elementary School .   I was so sad to read that she had passed. Sending prayers to the family . 😓🙏🏼🙏🏼


Just one of so many wonderful memories of my Lauren.  As a new “stepmom,” ok, maybe it took a few years to get that ring, but I was very nervous. I love children, but I didn’t have any until I married their dad. Lauren, Tommy and Lisa were so nice to me. Welcoming and loving. They seemed to know early on that I truly cared about their dad. One of my first stepmom questionable decisions was saying yes, of course, to letting Lauren have her hair braided in Mexico. You know… those teeny, tiny cornrows. She looked so cute. Well, I had to take those braids out, which wasn’t easy or fun. But it was worth it seeing her joy in the results. That girl had a gift for looking stylish! The real gift was their love for me. My life was changed forever having these beautiful children become my family. I love you all to the moon and back. Sweet Lauren, I will be with you again. Love, Tricia

This picture is from the night of my birthday. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, and Lauren and I ordered the same thing, both being vegetarians: a Impossible meat burger with mushrooms and onions, and a side of fries. I know Lauren loved fries. We each got the last two impossible burgers they had available that night. Lauren brought me a card with a hamster on it that said “ I wrote you a song”, and then on the inside, “ for your present I’m not going to sing it.”We all laughed at my reaction to it because I didn’t get the joke at first! Lauren also got me a journal with abstract art on it, and I am currently using it right now.  We had a fun night laughing and talking. It is a great memory I have. Lauren was that kind of person. She showed up for her friends. She never complained about the pain she was in. She never said she wished she weren’t here. She showed up. She never stopped fighting. She was brave and strong. She had a presence about her that just made you feel comfortable. She was beautiful, honest, and trusting.  She loved passionately. She did the most she could to help others. I will miss her dearly.
