

Curtis John Wicks, age 78, of Lake Sylvia in Annandale, MN, passed away May 26th, 2021, peacefully at home in the loving care of his family. Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Toogood), married 51 years, and his 6 children; Charissa Peterson (Jesse) of Oakdale, MN, Colette Tupy (Brett) of Elko New Market, MN, Constance Stephany (Bob) of Zimmerman, MN, Curtis Wicks II (Samantha) of Deerfield Beach, FL, Caryn Wicks of Mesa, AZ, and Catherine Wicks of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren; Jonathon, Jesse Jr, Stephanie, Wyatt (Peterson), Gabe, Sophie, Kayla, Max, Zachary (Tupy), Hannah (Ethan) Swirtz, Bobby, Zoey (Stephany), and Aubrey (Wicks-Ridley); brother, Edwin Wicks of Monroe, LA, sister-in-law, Mary Wicks of Lakeville, MN, brother-in-law, Vic Tarnowski of Plymouth, MN. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Edwin Wicks, his sister, Susan Tarnowski, his brother, Steven Wicks, and his cousin Alan (Linda) Moseng.
Curtis was born September 5th, 1942, in Montivideo, MN, to Edwin and Helen (Goranoski) Wicks. He grew up in Minneapolis, graduating from De LaSalle High School in 1960. Curtis was a veteran who loved his country, serving as military police at the North & South Korean border preceding the Vietnam War. He later attended Brown Institute completing a degree in information technology. He started at IBM in 1966 in Rochester, MN, where he met his loving wife, Carolyn. He accepted a position at 3M in 1968 and married Carolyn on December 20th, 1969. He was with 3M for 32 years and retired in 2000. In 1982, Curtis & Carolyn purchased the cabin on Lake Sylvia from Ed and Helen. In 2001, they built their lake home and have enjoyed nearly 20 years of retirement together. Lake Sylvia has been the anchor of the Wicks’ family, a place where many cherished memories were shared. Curtis felt deeply that his children and his grandchildren were his greatest treasures. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting coins. He was a proud member of the NRA.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 10th, 2021, with visitation 1 hour before, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale, MN, with Father Meyer as Celebrant. Military Honors will directly follow the mass.
