He is survived by his daughter Betsy Skovran, the apple of his eye, and her husband Pete Colclasure; brothers Bill and John, sisters Julie Benyo, Alice Nelson, and Barb Schaller; cousins in Slovakia, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and -nephews, and great grandnieces and nephews; his goddaughter Hannah Vincent and her mother Stephanie Vincent.
Everybody loved Uncle Danny. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, golfer and cross country skier. Dan was a Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey season ticket holder for more than 40 years and was proud of a signed photo from the team honoring his faithfulness. Dan was proud to be a veteran of the US Army and a company-trained mechanical engineer, beginning as a stock boy at ADC Telecommunications and retiring as a mechanical engineering manager. As his vision failed, he enjoyed articles read to him by family. When his speech failed, he would indicate his responses with raised fingers. His sister Barb was with him on a weekly basis keeping up his spirits and ensuring his caretakers knew what was what. A good fart joke (or a bad one) always got a laugh from him. Caretakers, friends and family fondly remember his ever-ready ear-to-ear smile during his last years and even his last weeks. He will be missed.
