
Pollard, Richard F. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away Dec. 26, 2010 at the age of 89. Richard is in the South High Football Hall of Fame. He was a Navy Golden Gloves boxing champion and served as a decorated fighter pilot on the Navy ship USS Hornet. He helped overtake Midway Island in the Pacific, changing the course of World War II. He was a president of Mpls Minutemen and a Vikings recruiter. Fisherman, hunter and devout Catholic. Preceded in death by wife, Jeanne; sisters, Virginia (Richard) Thompson, Barbara, Judy; great-grandchildren, Angela and Anthony. He is survived by partner, Eileen Lynch; children, David, John (Judy), Patricia (Jim), Elizabeth, Robert (Lisa), and Barbara; stepchildren, Laurelann (Glenn), Marilyn (Joe), Yvonne (Kris), Sheri and Kevin; grandchildren, Richard (Chantal), David, Crystal (Brad), Tiffany, Melodie, Andrew, Ian, Charlie; great-grandchildren, Terell, Richanta, and Avery; sisters, brother, nephews, nieces and friends. Memorial Mass Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, 10:00 AM at Visitation Church, 4500 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis with the luncheon following Mass.
