Born and raised in Tiffin, Ohio, Rita was a lifelong nurse, serving in hospital care, long-term care, and short-term rehabilitation. She retired from CentraCare Monticello Care Center in 2016.
A graduate of Benilde-St. Margaret High School, Rita went on to complete nursing school and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Minnesota. Throughout her life, she pursued her passion for writing, becoming a freelance writer and authoring works of fiction.
Rita loved books, gardening, and her family deeply.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Josephine Jump. Rita is survived by her husband, Paul; children W. Michael (Teresa) and Christy (Mark); grandchildren Kevin (Nicolle), Julia (Mike), Afton, Abby (Jake), Nina, and Ellie; and great-grandchildren Harper, Nadia, Rowan, Elsie, and Luke.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome.
A visitation for Rita will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Kapala Glodek Funeral Home, 2250 St Anthony Boulevard NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
