We will miss Rog so much!  His jokes, his ready smile, the way he looked at us when he disagreed with Peg, with a tilt of his head, roll of his eyes, and little grin.  He knew she was right!  What a great example they were for us of a loving marital relationship.  We met them in 1972 or 73 when they taught one of our CCL NFP classes (Peg was expecting Dave).  We camped together, went to the lake, and had lots of parties over the years.  Our kids have fond memories of "Mr. Carter".  Rog was the head of his family and exercised his leadership role with great responsibility, love, humor and faith. 

 We forgot about Rog's disabilities, he just never changed and remained his funny, sweet self.  Mike loved to fish with him, just quietly casting off the boat.  We loved to play cards with him, again those antics with the eyes when he made a great move.  We were able to spend a few days in Florida this winter with Rog and Peg.  What a blessing!  He was in such good spirits!  Peg gave him such a great gift getting him there that last time.  He looked at the sunset with such pleasure and peace.   We know he is busy now interceding for his family with his Creator and just relishing the sunrises and sunsets.

I am so sorry for your loss Aunt Peggy.  I wish I could have been there for you and your family.  I will always treasure the many memories I have from the Christmas Eve's spent together when I was young.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I miss uncle Roger with all my heart, and I can't wait to see him in heaven someday.

Art and I were informed through Bill about Roger's passing.  We are so sorry for your loss and will say a prayer for him and your family.  We will always remember his quick wit and pleasant personality.

We have been blessed with Roger's friendship for nearly 40 years and as such have shared many wonderful memories. He was always a positive influence and as we watched his health deteriorate we never heard a complaint. He was so fun, so practical and straight forward and always open to a game of cards. We loved how he shared his stories and how he allowed us to laugh as he told about his adventures.  Several come to mind: We remember his "tale of woe" when he dropped the mens' room key down the sink at the restroom at his office in the upper floors in the St. Paul Court House building. With Peg driving around down on the street looking to pick him up, he frantically tried to get help to get out as he needed the key to unlock the door from the inside.  With most of the staff gone for the day and I think it was a Friday, he finally got the help of the custodial staff after banging on the door for what seemed like hours and "escaped" what could have been a long weekend!  The 2nd memory is of the time he made a comment to judge Cohen and the judge nearly rolled backwards off the chair and platform they were sitting together on because he was laughing so hard at Rog's words. We remember fun times at the lakes in Wisconsin for our annual get togethers.  One year Roger said, "This is the kind of day you would like to package and take out again in November or December."  We had so many New Year's Eve celebrations together over the years.  These times were filled with laugher and sharing and are a part of who we are.  We are so grateful for Roger's life, for the joy he brought to so many. Peg, we have treasured your friendship and your witness as a couple. Know that we want to share many more precious memories with you.

Roger was my brother-in-law. Through the years he and Peggy have been our examples, our mentor's, spiritual councelors, prayer partners, and friends.
All who knew Roger know of his kind and gentle spirit, wit, humor and faith.
His love and devotion to his wife and family is a  witness  to everyone.
Roger was a testimony of God, in this life, through adversities and afflections.  He was tested and maintained His faith in God.  In fact with all the trials he had, his faith grew.
We watched Roger battle this terrible disease for many years, ultimately taking his life. We also watched Roger fight MD with dignity and such class ... still being an example to all who knew him.
He fought the good fight and maintained  his  trust and faith in his Lord and savior.  I'm sure the words he heard were....."well done, my good and faithful servant".  Will love and miss you ....  Gayle Carter

Roger is such a dear man.  I'm so sorry for your loss Peggy, Pam, Wendy, David and Jessica.  I am glad I knew Roger, even though it has been years since I saw him.  I loved his sense of humor and was drawn to his sweet spirit.  I will look forward to seeing him again in heaven.  May God comfort you in Roger's absence.

I will remember Roger as always a happy contented man; he enjoyed the simple quiet pleasures in life while sharing his life with friends and family. A single enduring image for me is Roger sitting in a boat, fishing pole in hand and smiling broadly from ear to ear. I'm thankful for all the special moments that Roger has left me and with that, I know he will continue to live on within our hearts and minds.

I will always remember Roger.  He was kind, funny, and had a big heart.  He and Peggy took me in during difficult times and treated me like another daughter.  Peggy, Pam, Wendy, Dave, and my Jessica - sending you my sympathy and love.

I got to know Roger back in the 1970s as an attorney who frequently saw him in court (and swimming at the YWCA pool).  He was a consummate professional who was always friendly and helpful.  My condolences to his family.

Roger was a kind, caring dad and grandfather. I feel honored to have known him.

Myself and many other court reporters in Ramsey County had many great years of comraderie and fun working with Roger.  He was one of my mentors when I first started working there.  He was a great guy and even though we hadn't seen each other for about eight years, I will never forget the fun times we had and the many things I learned from him.  God bless all of his family and bring you through this time of your loss.

To Roger's family:  God Bless!  I met Roger here at the courthouse as a colleague when I first started and he was certainly an inspiration.  He also comforted me at a time when I was experiencing great difficulty and loss in my life.  I didn't have to say a word to him, he just saw me and knew something was wrong and his words to this day have helped me with the troubles I had been going through at the time.  What a great man!  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Roger was always a bright spot every Sunday morning we saw him. He was a sweet man and we enjoyed talking to him and Peggy. He is in the presence of his Lord now and no longer suffering any limitations. He will be missed, and our prayers and thoughts are with Peggy and the family as you celebrate his life and his home going. May God grant all of you comfort and peace in this time.
