Anna Johanna Sunder

Exemplifying the humble grace with which she lived, and surrounded by the family she raised and selflessly loved, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Oma, Anna Sunder, on Friday, May 24th, 2013 at the age of 80.

Anna was predeceased in 2006 by her loving husband Art of 50 years, whose loss she felt every day as well as her brother, Koos van Oosten, sisters-in-law Corrie van Oosten and Annie van Oosten. She will forever remain in the hearts of her six children, Peter (Patti) Sunder, Leo (Tina) Sunder, Margaret (John) Bekkers, Anita (Mike) McMahon, Theresa (Darryl) Kokoska, and John (Christine) Sunder; her 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren as well as her loving family overseas; her sister Leny (Nico) Broch and three brothers Cor (Cisca), Leo (Annie) and Jan (Agnes) van Oosten in Holland; her brother Gerard (Mies) van Oosten in New Zealand; and their families as well as many extended family. She will also be missed by many dear friends and the family is grateful to them for their friendship, care & concern.

A special thank you to Hilda Finch for her dedicated companionship, especially as Mom’s health declined. A sincere thank you is also extended to those who cared for Mom when she was in Mission Memorial Hospital and to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Christine Morrison Hospice for their kind and gentle care of Mom in her final days and for their support of the family during such a difficult time.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 7:30 pm and a Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 32550 Seventh Avenue, Mission, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation or to the Christine Morrison Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
