She was predeceased by her husband Jock Grieve, second husband John Lapworth, sister Pat Newall, brother Doug Siddle, her parents Mollie Siddle and Richard Siddle, niece Patricia Newall, and nephew Graham Siddle.
Mom loved to be helpful and interact with people, a social butterfly. She was an active volunteer at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford, helping with coffee after church service, baking for friends and special events, serving the refreshments and cleaning up. She loved doing this. She was on the sick committee through the church and went to the hospital to visit. They would first ask the patient if they would like a visit and go from there, some had no family and were open to conversing.
Mom had a very clear, bright memory and automatically helped those with memory loss, this was prevalent at her time at the Cedars. She would remind them of hair appointments etc. She would phone their rooms, whatever it took to direct residents she came to know, love and respect.
Mom always seemed to enjoy family picnics and drives in the car. In her younger years camping was very much a part of her life. Camping was how we went on family holidays and later when the family was grown she went with her husband and friends in their bouler trailer up to Hope etc. Occasionally grandchildren went along.
Mom was a hard worker all of her life. Raised four children and loved us all. Always thought she treated us using the 3 F’s as her guide. She was fair and every child was treated equally. Firm. She was not a pushover. She said what she meant and stuck with it. Mom was friendly, a friend to all, strangers, acquaintances she spoke to everyone.
Special thanks to the wonderful care of the doctors (especially Dr. Patel) and nurses of Mission Memorial Hospital, the Cedars staff and care aids. To all of you a huge thank you. Our family is grateful for the friends and staff at the Cedars.
