With sadness, the family of Joseph Boutin announce his peaceful passing on November 5, 2024 at his home in Mission BC.
He was born in Gravelbourg Saskatchewan in 1942 to Phyllis and Roland Boutin and joined his brother Paul, but soon after moved to Vancouver with his family and enjoyed a childhood of being mischievous and rebellious 😉. Joseph enjoyed building and creating things with his hands and shared his talent with many people through stained glass, paintings, photography, guitar, woodwork, and wine and beer making. Joseph spent his early working years delivering prescriptions via bicycle, then as a salesman at Woodwards, and then as a machinist at Ebco and Richards Engineering. Having had enough of working for someone else, he took a risk and left Vancouver behind in 1994 to fulfill his dream of having his own Vineyard in Oliver BC, though he had to start with an orchard. He worked tirelessly with the family to turn the orchard into a vineyard, developing many friendships and leaving lasting impressions along the way. He continued to run the vineyard until 2019 and then in 2020 Joseph and Aruna moved down to Mission BC to be closer to children and grandchildren.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife Aruna Boutin, his daughter Yvette Fairweather (Adam), His son Daniel Boutin, and his grandchildren Cassandra Lounsbury (Graeson), Brianna Shaff (Braden), Asher Fairweather, and Amelia Fairweather. He also had two great grandchildren Benjamin Shaff and Beckham Lounsbury, whom he only met in pictures.
Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Bonn, and the two of them can now continue their antics in the afterlife together.
Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Joseph and spending time with him will remember him as a quick witted, generous, and hard-working man, who would never hesitate to help anyone in need. There was never a moment when a funny story or a nugget of wisdom would not be shared.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, 7386 Horne Street, Mission, BC V2V3Y7, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
