To our Family and Friends, This past Thursday evening, our beloved Al passed peacefully in his sleep. Almost, five years ago, Al was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Under the care of the fantastic doctors and nurses at City of Hope, Al relentlessly fought to beat his cancer, going into remission in August of 2011 where he then began his bone marrow stem cell transplant. Throughout the last five years, Al has continued to remain in remission, but unfortunately developed complications associated with his treatment that eventually worsened over time. Although Al suffered these complications, he continued to fight and persevere, never missing out on what life had to offer. We celebrate Al for his strength, courage, kindness, and humor throughout his life, especially during these difficult times. Even in his last days he had a smile on his face, making everyone around him laugh and feel at ease. Al had a profound impact on each and every one of his family members and friends, and he will always be remembered as a loving and good man. Al is survived by his wife, Gina, sons, Alphonse III, Joseph, and Vincent, daughter, Camille, sisters, Linda, Debi, Pam, Lisa, and Allison, and parents, Alphonse Sr., and Sara. Our family invites you to join us for services at St. Bernardine of Siena Catholic Church this Tuesday, March 15, and Wednesday, March 16, as we celebrate Al’s wonderful life. We also ask that in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to City of Hope, or any other cancer research foundation of your choice in honor of Al. Please keep Al in your prayers, and always remember to Fight On!
