

Born January 8, 1936 to Robert and Gladys Johnson in Mulberry Indiana with an older sister Mae and younger siblings Robert, Janelle and Jill. Clyde grew up on a dairy farm milking the cows and working the family farm and earned his Eagle Scout in 1951 and a winner of several awards in 4-H. He graduated Mulberry High School in 1953 and studied received his BS in Agriculture at Purdue University. He entered Medical School at Indiana University and received his MD in 1961 while working his way through school. He entered the Army Medical Corps and served in the States at Ft. Knox Ky., and Ft. Orde Ca.
Clyde was a leading doctor at Newhall Community Hospital and Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital for 40 years with his partner Benito Tan. Besides delivering babies, working the emergency room and taking care of people’s medical needs, he helped bring cutting edge medicine to the community. He supported the local sports teams by doing physicals at Hart High School and others as well as being the physician on hand at many games.
Through the years he was married to Mary Ann with whom he had five boys Robert, Matthew, Lloyd, Vincent and Glenn. Also to Dana with two step daughters of Kim and Carrie and later married to Daniele for 22 years with his step son Frank.
He taught his kids a good work ethic by teaching them to fix several rental houses in the area. He also taught them to love camping and the outdoors through many trips to the National Parks throughout the country.
A real adventurer, Clyde had been a pilot of small planes, became an avid and accomplished scuba diver after retiring from medicine, went skydiving for his 65th birthday and a world traveler whose list of passport stamps included all of the continents except Antarctica—China, Tanzania, most of Europe, Peru, Australia, many Pacific and Caribbean islands, Central America, Canada, Russia and many, many more.
He was the patriarch of the family and is survived by his large and loving family and the many people he provided inspiration and support for as well as health care to for many years.
