He was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. where he met his life long love and wife of 72 years, Ruth H. Russell.
He is survived by his son, Paul F. Russell, his daughter Pat Parker and her husband Don; his two grandchildren, Cheri Klassen and Jim Hurley and his wife Sayre; and four great grandchildren, Austin, Conner, Hunter Klassen and Tyler Hurley.
Harold and his wife Ruth were devout members of St. Francis de Sales Church. After a stay in the U.S. Army during WWII they decided to make Los Angeles their home. Ruth worked with charities for many years and Harold went on to become an Elevator Technician Supervisor for Haughton Elevator Company for all of Los Angeles and Bakersfield, California, lasting for 38 years. He retired at the age of 62.
Harold continued to enjoy his successful business as a landlord and manager, which his son carries on today.
He was also a leader with Boy Scouts Troop 124 out of St. Francis de Sales Church for a number of years. Harold and Ruth enjoyed membership in the Van Nuys Shuffleboard Club for 20 years and both served as presidents for several of those years.
Harold’s generous and loving spirit, sense of humor, and love of storytelling would put a smile on every ones face.
His memories will live on in our minds and our hearts.
He will never be forgotten.
