Nantiya Chandravirojkul was born in Bangkok, Thailand on June 23, 1968. She immigrated to the United States with her Grandmother and four other sisters in 1972 at the young age of four years old. They joined her Mother and four other siblings already living in Arleta, California. She attended Beachy Avenue Elementary School, Lawrence Junior High School, and Chatsworth High School. She received a bachelor’s in Business Administration from California State University Bakersfield, and a master’s degree in Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles. One of her first jobs while in high school was working at our sisters’ Thai restaurant in Reseda as a waitress, then at Bob’s Big Boy. After completing her education she went to work for Countrywide. She then joined Kaiser Permanente in 1995 working at several southern California locations such as Woodland Hills, Pasadena, Panorama City, Downey, and Baldwin Park. She loved her job and was equally loved by her employees and colleagues. Nan met her husband, Andrew Harbert, via speed dating in 2004 on St. Patrick’s Day. They married on December 5, 2014 after being together for ten years. She had three beagles that she and Andrew love dearly. In her spare time she aspired to be a writer and started a book titled “Three Beagles and a Boyfriend”. She also wanted to use her psychology degree to become an MFT to help people. Nan also loved the beach, traveling, and going to paintnites. Throughout a fifteen month long battle with cancer, Nan was truly inspirational during her struggle as she continued to be more concerned about others than her own situation. She had a big heart and a compassionate soul. Her infectious smile and positive attitude made people want to be around her. She passed softly and peacefully surrounded by her husband and several family members on September 7, 2016. Nan will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to StandUp2Cancer.org in her memory. Thank you.
