Born on May 2, 1939, he was the youngest of six children to Feliciano and Maria Torres. While he dedicated 27 years to the car sales business, his true passion lay in music. During his leisure hours, he immersed himself in crafting and producing timeless Tejano melodies. Over five decades in the industry, Tony collaborated with various musicians and conjuntos, leaving an indelible mark on South Texas's Tejano musical landscape.
Renowned for his mastery on the Bajo Sexto, Tony, affectionately known as "El Hormigón," captivated
audiences with his distinctive playing style, characterized by an unwavering commitment to excellence
and a profound sense of passion. Throughout his illustrious career, he released several albums, with his
band "Los Socios de Tony Torres" achieving significant acclaim during the 1970s, touring in Texas and the
Chicago area. In the 90s and early 2000s he went on to establish his band Finezza, and collaborated with
"Tuff Band", garnering further acclaim and recognition.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Tony cherished his family, finding joy in the company of his grandchildren
and embracing his faith as a devoted Christian within his local church community. He shared 64 years of
marriage with his beloved wife, Adelaida Torres, and is survived by five children: Lisa Llanas (Juan), Tony
Torres Jr. (Sylvia), Belinda Escobedo (David), Daniel Torres (Rita), and Reynaldo Torres, along with his
sister Trinidad Robeldo. Tony leaves behind a legacy that extends through 12 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren, each a testament to his enduring impact on both music and family.
