She was born on November 28, 1946, in Elsa, Texas, to Manuel Silva and Maria Inez Rodriguez. A lifelong resident of the Rio Grande Valley, Elida was deeply rooted in her community and in the hearts of her family.
Elida is survived by her loving children: Faustino (Nora), Cruz Alejandro, Diana, and Florentino (Patricia). She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Elida was a true homebody who found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved to sit and watch the world go by, always with a calm presence and warm heart. Her green thumb made her garden a small oasis, and she took great pride in caring for her plants. She had a soft spot for animals—especially the stray cats she lovingly watched over—and was known for raising parrots, teaching them to talk and whistle.
Those who knew Elida will remember her as a kind, loving, and forgiving woman. She welcomed everyone with a smile and a warm meal, never letting anyone leave her home hungry. Her generosity and gentle spirit made her a friend to all.
Elida's legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
