With heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of Emma Cavazos, age 89 of La Grulla, Texas. Emma went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at her home surrounded by her beloved family. Emma was born in Edinburg, Texas on February 20, 1934 to the late Jose Guerra and Maria Ozuna Guerra.
Emma was a beloved wife, aunt, sister, cousin and friend but to those that knew her best she was an exceptional person. She lived a humble life in La Grulla with her husband, Arturo until his passing. She was a strong, independent and collected woman. Generations of family were blessed to be raised and taken care for by Emma. She was a loving person who often neglected her own feelings in order to give others. This was very true when it came to how she assisted her family in raising her nieces and nephews. She was able to teach a number of strong values to each family member, whose life she touched. She taught them to appreciate their abilities, gave them a desire to persevere despite obstacles and set within them a drive to succeed as well as instill the importance of being strong and independent. Emma was a woman of faith and enjoyed attending Holy Family Catholic Church in La Grulla with her friend every week. Simply stated, Emma was a beautiful soul inside and out and will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Cavazos; parents, Jose Guerra and Maria Ozuna Guerra; siblings, Remijio Solis, Leopoldo Guerra, Anita Garza, Federico Guerra, Benito Guerra, Maria Solis, Eloy Guerra, Ramon Guerra, Guadalupe Guerra and Leopoldo Guerra II.
Emma is survived by her sisters, Josefina Duarte, Teresa Lozano, Juanita “Connie” Soto, Ofelia Torres, and Maria Elia Torres; sister-in-laws, Aurora Guerra, Eudelia Guerra, Dalia Guerra and Aminda Guerra, along with various nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Jose Guerra, Domingo Duarte Jr., Candido Torres, David Torres, Rowdy Soliel,
