

In loving memory of Ismael Enriquez Sr. known by many as "Smiley." He was born in San Benito, Texas to parents, Jesus Enriquez and Evalinda Flores.
After graduating from San Benito High School in 1974, he enrolled in Pan American University. Prior to graduating, he enlisted in the military. He did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. In the military he specialized as an Electronic Specialist in nuclear weapons and earned the Marksman Qualification Badge, the Perfect Qualification Badge for Hand Grenades, the Army Service Ribbon, the Oversea Service Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. While the army he served in Huntsville, Alabama; in Seneca Army Depot Romulus, New York; in Kunsan Air Force Base, South Korean; AIMD Division in Kingsville, Texas; in Holloman Air Force Base Alamogordo, New Mexico and at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas.
Smiley was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed collecting Super Bowl memorabilia along with weapons and knives. He also enjoyed listening to classic rock. Other pass times included spending time with his family barbequing fajitas and drinking diet drinks.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Irma Enriquez; a son, Ismael Enriquez, Jr, and a daughter, Isabel E. Grijalva.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and one sister: Yasmine Grijalva, Katherine Alessandra Enriquez, Isaac Alexander Enriquez, Christopher Andrew Reyna, and sister Elvia Salinas. Ismael preceded his mother in death, Evalinda and his sister Nelda De la Cerda.
A Memorial Service will be held for Smiley on December 10, 2021 at 12:30pm at Funeraria Del Angel.
The Graveside service and Military Honors will take place following the Memorial Service at 2:00pm at Rio Grande State Veterans Cemetery.
