Javier Gomez, the free spirit we all know and love, with a heart the size of the earth itself, loved all, including those who came before him and especially those who were with him. Being first in line to help anyone in need, no matter what the person, Javi was there. His passion for the MVPA military vehicles and the military itself was immeasurable, spending most of his time at what was nicknamed “His second wife” an old military Hut that was self-changed for himself. done by himself. Here he was at peace, and at home. Javi was a dedicated father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother, and husband. His love for his children was deep and sincere. His love for those close to him is far beyond anything anyone can describe. The summers spent at South Padre Island were his favorite, and most long-awaited times of the year. “Late nights with the island boys!” he wished would last for eternity. Although it is not widely known but Javi graduated from McAllen High school in 1984; while going to school, he had primarily hung out with his brother Jaime’s class which started many friendships we know today. Javi worked alongside his mother Jovita Gomez, known to most as Bita the owner of Bitas Flower Shop. Javi worked at “The shop” for close to 40 years and loved every part of it. From engaging in conversations with customers to helping many florists in need with merchandise, or with an indisposed van, he made everyone feel welcome and at ease. Javi always left the shop with a smile knowing he made unexpected friends along his day. All who Javi spent his time with were and will always be considered his brothers and sisters. Talks that were private and held with passion will always be cherished and never forgotten. The lessons Javi taught us will never be forgotten. He loved his family so very much and although he was taken too early, he we always be deeply missed.
