

Born on February 22, 1949, to Ponciano and Cesaria Duran, Imelda spent her life rooted in the love of family, tradition, and community. After graduating from high school, she began a long and dedicated career at Edinburg Manufacturing Company, where she worked for over 30 years until her retirement. Imelda was a loving mother, devoted sister, and a loving aunt who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.The children in the family were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She had a deep love for Tejano music, and could spend hours watching her favorite crime dramas and old western shows. She always stayed informed, never missing a beat when it came to the latest news, and loved relaxing with a good word search puzzle in hand. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jaime R. Duran, and her parents, Ponciano and Cesaria Duran, all of Edinburg. Imelda is survived by her son, Jacob R. Flores (Laurie) of Edinburg; her brother, Ponce Duran Jr. (Carol) of Coppell; and her sister, Julie Duran Bounous of McAllen. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews: Bryan Bounous of McAllen, Ponciano Duran III of Dallas, Janine Clifford (Michael) of McAllen, Elise Gil (Peter) of San Antonio, and Linda Duran of Dallas. She will also be remembered fondly by her step-grandchildren, Aaron Trevino (Andrea) of Edinburg and Raven Santana (Osvaldo) of Pharr, who brought her additional joy in her later years. In addition, Imelda will be deeply missed by several great grand nephews and nieces. Imelda’s warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Del Angel Funeral Home, located at 3611 N. Taylor Rd., Mission, TX 78573, with burial to follow.
